Hey everyone!
Ah, the month of May. Such a magical month when you're a kid. Summer is gearing up, you're getting ready to kiss another school year good-bye and take one more step into the future. One of those summers you'll never forget is just on the horizon, with friends you swear you'll spend the rest of your life hanging hard with. One of those summers that has a certain album playing constantly as a soundtrack to your lives. Innocence and purity. It gets harder to keep in touch with these friends over the years. We all grow into our lives and evolve as people at different rates and learn different things at different times. This usually makes our paths cross with new and interesting people that are more like-minded at the new stages of life, that we have more in common with. There are a lot of people we miss from those early, innocent summers of growing up and it's usually those summers that helped form and mold our ideals and opinions. So even though we may not speak to them as often as we once did, or ever, those friends helped define who we are today. All those rough, young, uncertain and naive ideals are refined over time to become legitimate, fact-based opinions of a young adult, but there sure is a beauty in the passionate and undeterred youth they grew from. An indestructible sense of hope in the naivety. A quality. It's something that we struggle to maintain as we get older, but it's vital to hold onto. Sometimes it's easier to see through the cloud that adulthood problems create and maintain even a semblance of that lost idealism by reopening lines of communication with some of these old friends. Sometimes it's just a matter of listening to one of those old records that changed your life, but you haven't spun in a few years. It's important to never lose sight of why we are who we are, so however you feel is the best way to accomplish that, maybe we should do that this month. Something about the way the breeze smells in May demands it =)
But aside from that, we have a lot of upcoming and current stuff to talk about in this newsletter, so lets get the party started!
CASPIAN - You Are The Conductor / The Four Trees 3xLP PREORDER!
On May 14th we'll begin taking preorders for the deluxe vinyl 3xLP package that combines 2005's "You Are The Conductor" ep and 2007's "The Four Trees" full length together as one massive 3xLP package. The albums have been remastered for this release by Constants' Will Benoit and the artwork has been completely overhauled and includes photography by Andrew Weiss and design and layout by N.Shumaker/Northern Lights Industries. This is ONE TIME PRESSING of 500 copies with 400 available for mailorder. We'll NEVER be repressing this, EVERRRRRRRRR. The jackets will be tri-fold gatefolds on 400gsm stock (!) with metallic pantones and the vinyl will be on 160 gram colored vinyl. Colors and their quantities will be disclosed when the preorder starts. This will be the only opportunity to own this version of the master recordings with this artwork and layout. Both the original vinyl versions of these releases are out of print and unavailable and we're not sure if/when we'll be reprea ssing them, so please don't sleep on this release if you're jonesin' for some Caspian vinyl!! May 14th <3 Also, Caspian is currently touring Europe to finish up their massive 3 month world tour in support of last years Tertia., check out all the dates in the "shows!" section!
JUNIUS - Junius 2xLP PREORDER UPDATE!

And also the "Martyrdom" + "self titled" package deal:
order HERE
Everything is perfectly on schedule with these puppies and there's even a slight chance they may start shipping a little earlier than expected =) So we'll keep everyone posted on that. The band is touring Europe throughout May and early June, full tour dates are listed in the "shows!" section... onward!!
CONSTANTS - If Tomorrow The War
As many of you know by now, Constants have revealed the title of their upcoming, new full length "If Tomorrow The War". The band has foregone any type of conventional follow-up to 2009's "The Foundation, The Machine, The Ascension" and instead created a stunning album of Jesu-meets-Jimmy Eat World inspired sonic carnage. With guest appearances by Mike Hill (Tombs) and Andrew Neufeld (Comeback Kid, Sights & Sounds) and production handled by none other than Justin K Broadrick (Jesu/Godflesh), these shoegazers turned indie-metal pioneers are poised for a huge year. And after playing 600 shows since 2005, it's tough to argue that there's a more deserving band of success! The band has made two tracks available for streaming on their website HERE[. Also, as an added bonus, the band has recently uploaded a cover of the Type O Negative song "Love You To Death". Peter Steele was an important influence so the band wanted to record the cover to pay homage to him in light of his recent passing. Head over HERE and listen to it and give the band a comment on it =) The band is currently touring Europe with Caspian, so be certain to check the "shows!" section of the newsletter for full tour dates!! Also, if you're new to Constants and their creations, we strongly encourage you to purchase last years "The Foundation, The Machine, The Ascension", we released it last year on CD (also available on all download sites), but it's true presence can only be realized by the massive 3xLP version. Check it out HERE =) Tracklisting and album artwork for the upcoming "If Tomorrow The War" will be announced later, along with the official release date!
UPCOMING SUMMER RELEASE UPDATE!!
On 7/13/10 we have a pair of releases coming out that are certain to floor people with good taste in music =) More info below, read on playa...
(Sheath022) GIFTS FROM ENOLA - Gifts From Enola
The boys in Gifts From Enola have created an album that finally captures the intensity of their live show perfectly and expands upon all of their past ideas ten-fold, or maybe they've simply taken past ideas to their logical extremes, destroyed them, and birthed brand new ideas from their ashes. Either way, the band continues to evolve at an astonishing rate and further pushes their sound into an unclassifiable area that is all at once hard to explain, but impossibly easy to listen to. And we don't mean that in the "easy-listening" genre of music sense =) If anything, the band has become heavier than even the heaviest parts of "From Fathoms", but not in a "breakdown-in-the-middle-of-Trieste" way, but an "overall sound" way. With more attention to dynamics than ever before and a recording that truly captures a band approaching a creative zenith, this album is almost a lock to defy expectations and raise the bar yet again. Easily staying ahead of the pack by simply pushing themselves to color outside any preset guidelines laid down before them, the band has never intentionally shunned convention - but simply write music with their collective heart on their sleeve. The upcoming self titled Gifts From Enola album was mixed and mastered by Moving Mountains guitarist/vocalist Gregory Dunn and artwork is being handled by Three Bears Design once again (they also did "From Fathoms"). This will mark the bands third full length release, following up "Loyal Eyes Betrayed The Mind" (2006, The Mylene Sheath) and "From Fathoms" (2009, The Mylene Sheath), as well as a split CD with Seattle, WA's You.May.Die.In.The.Desert (2008, Differential). We'll begin taking preorders for both the CD and LP versions of the album in June with a specific date set in next months June newsletter =) Hast thou not been forewarned??? Indeed, thou hast...
(Sheath019) ANGEL EYES - Midwestern
Angel Eyes, our newest family members, and the scariest of the bunch, are getting ready to drop a fucking BOMB on the you little bitches. Hahaha, sorry... lets just say that they have tested even our own annoyingly positive mental attitudes with their newest, upcoming full length "Midwestern". We know that when WE are questioning whether or not there is happiness to be had in the world anymore, that we are listening to some seriously bleak, dark, and emotional stuff =) But seriously, this album is one of moral indignation, a call to arms in a declining economy. It's relatable to any of us that have struggled and fought and clawed over these past few years only to end up having to struggle harder in the end, with no end of worrying in sight. Apocalyptic in scope, "Midwestern" is a four part movement of brutal realism that plays over in your head long after listening. The sounds resonate, the lyrics and vocals disturb, and the intention is honest and personal. There's still a comfort and hope in the unsettling atmosphere that the album conjures up, however, because it is comforting to know that others feel this way and we are not alone in the desolate struggle ahead. If you combine the cathartic nature of mid-90's hardcore acts such as His Hero Is Gone and In/Humanity, with the contemporary sludge of Neurosis and the atmospheric elements of Godspeed You! Black Emperor, toss in an unhealthy, complete and utter obsession with Ennio Morricone's soundtracks to the Sergio Leone spaghetti westerns of the 60's & 70's (in fact, the bands' name,"Angel Eyes" is actually taken from the name of Lee Van Cleef's totally badass character in "The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly"), then you're starting to get an idea of what "Midwestern" sounds like. Since playing their first show in 2003, the band has released a demo called "01" (2004, self released), a full length entitled "Something To Do With Death" (2005, Underground Communique), an ep entitled "...And For The Roof, A Sky Full of Stars (2007, Underground Communique), and a split 12" with German spazz/noise crazies A Fine Boat, That Coffin! (2009, Concubine Records). "Midwestern" marks their second full length album and a culmination of experiences both musically and personally that couldn't help but explode in the violent manner captured within these songs. It was recorded by Greg Norman at Electrical Audio (Pelican, Russian Circles, Sweet Cobra) and mastered by Bob Weston at Chicago Mastering Service (Nirvana, The Jesus Lizard, Earth, Om, Jawbox), with artwork painted by Marnie Galloway and design and layout by N. Shumaker/Northern Lights Industries. We'll begin taking preorders for the CD and LP versions in June, with an exact date announced in next months newsletter =)

BEWARE OF SAFETY - dogs 2xLP
In a full length debut that is as ambitious as it is visceral, as dynamic as it is subtle, and as frightening as it is comforting, Beware of Safety have discovered an unclassifiable sound steeped in psychedelia and speculative exposition. The vinyl comes held in a deluxe gatefold jacket with an upgraded, heavy reverse board finish. The inside of the gatefold tells the tale of the album as illustrations by Bodin Sterba span the inner panels.

THE MYLENE SHIRT
Here's the label's first shirt =) It features our newly redesigned logo on the left breast and "Ned The Neuron" on the back spittin' the straight fact - "insulating your axons since 2007" =) Don't have a ton of these and this design will never get reprinted, so do what ya do! These are printed on 100% brushed cotton Royal Apparel shirts, so they're sweatshop free and you're also not supporting the sexism of American Apparel. Sound good? Yep!
