A collection of artists, creators and thinkers founded by Eric J. Herboth in the year 2000, TEAM AV has released albums by a wide range of artists, from post-punk (Mt.St.Helens) and experimental jazz/electronica (DMS) to cello-laden indie (Utah!) and jazz-pop (Red Shirt Brigade). The label made a name for itself with heavier, progressive and experimental instrumental music (Volta Do Mar, Piglet, American Draft) but has always maintained a diverse roster, focusing in later years on the pop/noise projects of Jeremy Michael Keller (Everybody Uh Oh, Baby & Hide).

The label maintains working relationships with artists not signed to the label (Murder By Death, A Light Sleeper) and has worked diligently to expose underappreciated bands to wider audiences through several compilations and showcase concerts. In 2005 the band moved away from traditional CD jewel cases, citing environmental concerns, and began releasing material strictly in digipak or cardboard sleeve formats, and in 2007 the label annouced a permanent end to mass produced physical releases. Instead the label now works exclusively with digital releases augmented by non-commercial, hand-made packaging for limited edition physical releases, most notably the beeswax-sealed release of Oso albums and the hand-assembled releases of Baby & Hide albums.

“Protecting wildlife with noise since 2000” has been the label’s motto for several years, a reference to the founder’s involvement with and support for various environmental protection and animal rights groups.
