    With his new album, The Blues and the Abstract Truth, Take 2, pianist Bill Cunliffe doesn't so much reinvent a modern jazz classic as open it for incisive interpretation. Working with clean, uncluttered arrangements and a stellar cast of improvisers, Cunliffe explores Oliver Nelson's beloved 1961 album for Impulse!

    Lori Bell - "The Music of Djavan"
    Gorgeous playing, combining jazz with Brazilian world music superstar Djavan's lyrical compositions. These songs are tailor-made for jazz interpretation (yet have been rarely done), and Lori Bell is the next great flute player ready for prime time.

    Rising Jazz Stars Foundation Launches Resonance Records and its Heirloom Series with New Releases In March 2008 from Pianist/Composer John Beasley and Gene Harris

    For many professionals in the Jazz business, its current economic climate presents problems of seemingly insurmountable proportions. For George Klabin, the visionary President of the Rising Jazz Stars Foundation, these challenges offer a tremendous opportunity to not only instill a new vibrancy into the art form, but also to establish a significantly more equitable financial environment for its artists. The centerpiece of his bold and innovative plan is Resonance Records, a new Los Angeles-based label that will release its first recordings in March of 2008.
