Pink Hedgehog are a small independent record label based in Dorset, England. Started way back in 1994, their aim has always been to shine a spotlight on some of the great music that is being made by the underground stars and unsung heroes of the truly independent pop scene. Their stable of artists include power pop giants Cheese, the Brian Wilson-inspired Peter Lacey, the uniquely talented Bitter Little Cider Apples, the always charismatic Steve Wilson and indie pop elders Garfields Birthday (fronted by label-founder Simon Felton). Other members of their expanding family include Cambridge based tunesmiths Hamfatter, Sacramento’s cult superstar Anton Barbeau and Los Angeles-based purveyors of alternative pop, The Black Watch. Hamfatter achieved overnight notoriety after appearing on the BBC TV series Dragon’s Den when they successfully secured investment from Peter Jones to fund the band’s next album.

More recent additions have included London art-poppers Mondo Jet Set, Armenian psych-legends Schnauser and Bristol’s Nick Drake-influenced Roger Tarry. The label’s hometown of Weymouth is well represented by the irrepressible Freak Circus, chart-botherers Electrasy, social commentator Si Jubb and the magnificent Eye, fronted by the velvet-voiced Rick Hammond who has now sadly passed away. The latest arrival comes in the form of The Inexperienced, a studio-based outfit led by Tom Jones’ bass played Alex Meadows!
