MovieScore Media is a Swedish soundtrack label formed by film music journalist and composer Mikael Carlsson in 2006. During its first year in business, the label established itself as an innovative label distributing soundtracks exclusively online via iTunes and its own online store. During 2007, the label expanded its business and now produces regular CDs in addition to the digital distribution.

During its first year, 16 albums were released online, ranging from music written for small independent movies such as “Unknown Soldier” (Peter Calandra), “Echoes of Innocence” (Brad Sayles) and “The Sisters” (Thomas Morse), to scores from bigger theatrical features like “Half Light” (Brett Rosenberg), “An American Haunting” (Caine Davidson) and “Evil” (Francis Shaw). In many cases, MovieScore Media introduced new composers to the film music community with their albums.

In 2007, MovieScore Media has continued to focus on discovering new composers, concentrating on the quality of the music rather than the commercial properties of the film it was written for. It has also released music by established composers, such as Academy Award-nominated Dario Marianelli.

MovieScore Media also runs Film Music Downloads (, a download music store where all of the label’s CDs are available in 320 kbit mp3 format. In addition to the MovieScore Media albums, Film Music Downloads features albums produced by other labels or by composers independently.
