IFFTCD005: Thomas J - Glorified Failure

16 May 2009, 18:45

Hi everyone,

Lots of new music for you lately. This one is the first physically-available release from underground alchemist Thomas J. Press release follows:

IFFTCD005 // 2009
Alternative/Indie/Pop

A stylistically varied and confident album, Glorified Failure offers glimpses into the world of its creator, some of them distorted or exagerrated, but all still real nonetheless. The songs range from the diffident, almost shambolic opener "The Common Trend", to the sixties' pop of "Game Of Love", to the witty and driving "Everyone Is Weird", passing through protest song and punk along the way.

Stripped down instrumentation and programmed beats add to the sense of estrangment - the record is permeated with that particular sense of being different that causes some people to write screenplays about zombies. While some tracks, such as "Superhero" and "The Head's In The Hands...", are full of pathos, there is humour and hubris sprinkled throughout: "everyone is weird / yeah everyone is weird / except me".

Limited edition physical copies available from IFF Transponder Recordings' Online Shop for £7 plus P&P.

Free downloads of Everyone Is Weird, Superhero and Ill available from Glorified Failure's last.fm page.

Enjoy,
IFF Transponder Recordings
