Frozen Empire Media was originally conceived in 1999 by Joe Abrescia (Aural Blasphemy) as a means of distributing his own material, as well as material from other local like minded artists (Radial, Synth-etik, Idyl) on a limited scale. After releasing approximately 20 limited CDR releases from the likes of aural blasphemy, synth-etik, radial, idyl, red reflection, ativ, exclipsect, pneumatic detach, lefthandeddecision and control, among others, Frozen Empire Media started releasing professionally manufactured CD’s in November of 2001. Frozen Empire Media went on to release CD’s by Suspicion Breeds Confidence, Kreptkrept, Antigen Shift, Tamarin, Totakeke, Minion, Red Reflection, Velapene Screen and Nonplus. As a label, the sound of Frozen Empire Media can loosly be described as “experimental electronic”, covering a variety of left-of-center styles of electronic music, from abstract (suspicion breeds confidence), to rhythmic-industrial / powernoise (antigen shift, kreptkrept), to idm (totakeke, velapene screen), to power electronics (lefthandedecision, control).
