New free single on EardrumsPop: Baffin Island (The Hermit Crabs + The Very Most)

20 Nov 2010, 11:40

Two bands from two different parts of the world have joined forces to give you the next free single in our digital singles series at EardrumsPop. The Very Most from Boise, Idaho, USA, and The Hermit Crabs from Glasgow, Scotland, have collaborated via the internet to make this single. Baffin Island, the name of their project, is the exact midpoint on the map between their homes in Boise and Glasgow.

The music may also be seen as the exact midpoint between the two bands' music: Baffin Island combines the densely-layered indie pop of The Very Most
with the more stripped down, thoughtful folky indie pop of The Hermit
Crabs. The result is as sweet as you'd expect with healthy doses of Phil Spector,
handclaps, delicate vocals, and lots and lots of reverb.

The third track on the single deserves a special mention: It's a cover of Math and Physics Club's "Darling Please Come Home". Math and Physics Club and The Hermit Crabs share label on the fine Matinée Recordings.

You can download the 3 track single for free on EardrumsPop's website, http://www.eardrumspop.com/releases-2/singles/, complete with music, lovely cover-art made by Sathya Ranjana, a booklet with photos, interviews and info (booklet by Julia Pax and Andrej Dolinka).

Hope you like it!

(Don't forget to download the other singles in the series as well, from Tiny Fireflies, Paperfangs, Insect Guide and Sometimes Always, - all available from the same website)
