EGOBOO.bits is a publishing project & production collective dealing with the free software development, sound production and mediatheory. It is a project by the Multimedia Institute and net.culture centre MaMa from Zagreb, Croatia founded in 2001. The lowest common denominator of the entire EGOBOO.bits production is GNU General Public Licence, also known as copyleft. Copyleft implies that all intellectual products (software, music, lyrics, ideas… ) published under GNU General Public Licence are commons. Music published under these terms on the EGOBOO.bits label can be freely distributed, used and modified by others as long as its derivates remain under the same conditions. Since 2005. all music and other digital material are published under CC-Attribution-Share A Like licence.
The music production is run by the participating members and music CDs are usually designed, burned and distributed by artists themselves. CDs can be downloaded from the EGOBOO.bits web-site, bartered or obtained directly at a minimum production price.
