Domino Recording Company, generally referred to as Domino Records, is an independent record label based in London but also has a office in Brooklyn, US. The label was founded by Laurence Bell and his partner Jacqui Rice in 1993, and many of the early releases were by American artists who were signed to Drag City in the USA, but the label’s first release was a Sebadoh single, licensed from Sub Pop records.

Domino is now known as one of the longest running and most successful independent record labels in the UK, with recent high profile releases including Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand and The Kills. In October 2005, Franz Ferdinand’s “You Could Have It So Much Better” earnt Domino their first UK #1 Album with Arctic Monkeys’ “I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor” following up with the label’s first UK #1 Single later that month.

Stephen McRobbie of The Pastels presides over Domino’s subsidiary label Geographic Music, which releases more unusual British and World music.
