Distraction Records Newsclout June 2010: new d_rradio album, rude shows, Baby Serious

4 Jun 2010, 14:10

Attention please, attention PLEASE.

Quick ones this month. Honest.

FIRST: d_rradio have an album out on August 2nd, it's called Parts, and it's MINT. Going two steps forward from where their Leaves album left off on ace Japanese label symbolic interaction, it's chock-a-block full of earthly and serene atmospheric drones, ambient golden hues, and the hiss, crackle and hum of a hundred tired, well-loved 78s, while oozing the soul that makes d_rradio so vital. Its out on CD, vinyl (250 only with "vintage inner sleeves" (!) and download dropcards), and cassette (50 only), and you can pre-order at a slightly cheaper price now (with discount if you buy all three formats - watch it doesn't get banned from the charts or owt!) We should have the pre-orders ready to despatch next week sometime. You can hear full length tracks previews from our album page. Great!

SECOND: Potty-mouthed casiotone genius Kunt and the Gang hits Sunderland's Independent on Wednesday June 9th (i.e. NEXT WEEK). Go on, youtube him and see what the fuss is about. But not from work, like. Mind, if you're stupid enough to type in the word "Kunt" into Google at work then you deserve all you get. Its three quid in, starts at 8pm, and support comes from Foist (I Was Afraid) and Russ Abbotoire. This one isn't for the humourless or those with sand in their vaginas like. Did we mention Charlie Brooker is a fan?

THIRD: Baby Serious hits (not literally) the Telegraph in Newcastle on June 19th (not June 11th as it says in The Crack), expect 80's chart smashers, old school electro-pop/breakdance/hip-hop/dance, 80's soft rock, fun funky free floor shakers, cheeky disco, motown soul, classic reggae - ALL tracks guaranteed dance floor friendly; no chin stroking obscurites and absolutely no tongue-in-cheek retro-posing! And it's free! Woah!

FOURTH: Moira Stewart have their Sweetness Yes! remix album out on September 6th, and it's called moirastewartremixes]Sweetness Yes Please! It's at the duplicators at the minute, comes in a nice wallet sleeve and it's limited to 200 COPIES ONLY at a bargain price of £5.99. The remixes come courtesy of Keith Canisius, Wroooaar!, Tempelhof, OK Ikumi, Phasmid, Mood4, orange crush, dot Tape dot, Cathode, Transient, Spintronic, The Matinee Orchestra, Dave Curle, Dressed in Wires and deathrowradio]d_rradio (phew!) and we'll send out a mail closer to the time about pre-orders and stuff when we have them (we'll also do both the original and the remix album for you for a tenner, cos we're nice like that.)
