Distraction Records: hollerin' with the rinsing sound, hollerin' with the rinsing sound.
Right, nee messing about here because we tend to rabbit on with these updates and apparently in internet school they teach you that if you do that then people think "pfffffffft! Not reading anything that big, like." Bite-sized chunks is where it's at these days, apparently.
So then, let's get down with the wickedness. Our Italian showgazey chums Tempelhof have a new 12" single out on May 9th, it's a double a-side (except that both tracks are on one side, confused yet?) with Leaving Home / Cage vying for your attentions and affection. And why lash on the superlatives when you could just download the tracks, check them out for yourself and buy the 12" using our (brand new!) shopping cart on our web site? Like M83? The Album Leaf? Ultramarine? Why sir (or ma'am), here are some links for you:
Clicky for a rapidshare link
Clicky for a megaupload link
Clicky for the release page to stream both tracks
Clicky for the Distraction myspace to stream both tracks
And remember! If you like what you hear, then please consider purchasing the album from our release page or by buying it - on lovingly-made handpainted vinyl (pictures here!) in a custom sleeve, the way that it's meant to be "consumed" - from one of the many reputable independent record stores worldwide. By doing so, you ensure that our label survives. Can't say fairer than that guv, eh? Mind there's only 250 of the vinyls, so be quick or be dead.
The 'hof (it pains me to type that) are also indulging in hot gig action over the next few weeks at the following places:
And, yep, we're doing the Newcastle date with the lovely bods at fakeindielabel - get yer tickets here!
Just a quick reminder that the Mushi Mushi Sequins Save Lives CD is out there like Dan Dare; we might have mentioned this before, but it's 13 morsels of prime whoomp, all lo-fi cranks and cronks, clocking in at just over half-an-hour of utter popnoise brilliance. Get amongst (among?) it!
Coming soon! the d_rradio parts LP/CD/MC, Moira Stewart remix CD Sweetness Yes Please!, Warm Digits album, the eagerly-awaited second Necro Deathmort outing (they've been confirmed for this year's Capsule Supersonic festival, do you know? Fancy it?), a nice Jazzfinger lathe. . . ooh, possibly other stuff on top of that that I don't recall.
More events! At Independent in Sunderland, we're really proud (no, we really are proud) to present the one-and-only Kunt and the Gang! Armed with the backing track of a Casio keyboard, Kunt and the Gang spurts forth 2 minute no-holds-barred suburban vignettes, touching on such topics as his own celebrity obsession (Carol Vorderman and Rachel Riley), love and loss (Wanking Over a Pornographic Polaroid of an Ex-girlfriend Who Died), and the music industry at large (Use My Arse As A Cunt). Occasionally assisted by his recently removed parasitic twin Little Kunt, this gig is not for the easily offended or faint-hearted, or as Kunt descibes it, ". . . music for anyone that's not a po-faced prick!" The date? 9th June. The support? Russ Abbotoire and Foist (I Was Afraid). The door damage? £4, or £3 if you agree to us writing a rude word on your face. Here's our ticket page, and here's our Facebook event shizzle.
And on June 19th at the Telegraph in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, we're getting together with folk from Moira Stewart and The Bubble Project to present Baby Serious, a new night dedicated to feelgood, unpretentious party music. The drill is: 80's chart smashers, old school electro-pop/breakdance/hip-hop/dance, 80's soft rock, fun funky fresh floor shakers, cheeky disco, motown soul, classic reggae, all tracks are GUARANTEED dance floor friendly, with no chin stroking obscurites and absolutely no tongue-in-cheek retro-posing! This is FREE ENTRY, so come along and see in the summer solstice with us! Event page -> here! Facebook event page -> here!
Hmmm, we lied, we have rabbited on a bit haven't we? Ah well. Catch you later. . .
