Distraction Records September News: d_rradio remixed / The Retail Sectors /…
11 Sep 2008, 20:49
Hey!
October 6th sees the release of D_rradio Remixed, the remix album of the critically-acclaimed debut proper long-player by d_rradio.
Limited to 500 copies only, it features reinterpretations, rehashes and reworkings from the creamy crop of electronic music today: the crackling chambertronics of Cathode's rework of Paper Soul, to Manual's exemplary dark, opaque version of A Life Alive, through to the beautiful beat-driven Populous' aptly-named Twisted remix of Rest of Your Life. The journey continues, with Depth Affect's skittering, icily minimal re-rub of Bag of Lovely nestling alongside The Matinee Orchestra's Victorian Clockwork techno take on Wish For More Wishes and Ylid's magnificently haunting vocal rework of Blow Out. Maintaining a suitably high standard are juxta phona turning So Long into a juddering glitchfest, Piano Magic's childlike and sublime reworking of Way Out, Matthew Rozeik's sombre yet swirling light-at-the-end-of-the-tunnel version of Lifted, and finally port-royal's dramatic revamp of Long Way Home.
And another thing! Remember earlier this year when we gave away the entire d_rradio album away as mp3s for FREE weeks before the release date? Well, whaddya know, it turned out to be such a success that we rapidly ran out of copies fast. Hell, we ended up having to BUY copies back from d_rradio themselves to keep up with demand! We honestly do not know why other labels our size (or any size, big or small, come to think of it) don't just give away the album for free electronically, and trust their punters to contribute towards the label for providing quality audio.
So guess what? We're giving away this album as well. Yep, the ENTIRE d_rradio remixed as 320kps mp3s, for nowt, nothing, not a sausage. Hell, it's gonna be on The Pirate Bay or Shareminer somewhere anyway, so why not get it from us? Remember though! Everything that you buy from us goes towards more releases for the label, which in turn means that we can give even MORE free audio away. You can buy the actual CD itself – in spectrum-of-colour on white digipak (god, we hate jewel cases) - for the bargain sum of £7.99 post-paid (£8.99 Europe, £9.99 ROW), and, for a limited period only, you can buy both d_rradio AND d_rradio remixed for only £9.99 post-paid (£10.99 Europe; £11.99 ROW). But be quick! There's only 500 copies of this bad boy available, so don't miss out!
Please, if you like what we're doing, please forward this mail onto everybody that you think may be interested, post it on message boards, myspace, facebook, whatever, we reckon that its music that deserves to be heard, if you like what you hear, pass it on! We ABSOLUTELY depend on word-of-mouth to survive because we hardly ever advertise, so it'll be great if you could spread the word if you enjoy the sounds.
Right then, here's the link: [url=http://www.[spam nofollow=yes] more releases, and The Retail Sectors' 'March Of Incurable Workaholic' / 'Song About A Girl Who Killed Herself Yesterday' will finally arrive on the racks on November 17th! Well, that's if Narbi can get the artwork finished in time. Two tales of life's ironies and death from virtuosic post-rock overlord Kentaro Togawa, this will be supplemented with a possible UK tour and a definite date at Newcastle-upon-Tyne's Head Of Steam on November 20th – more details about this in a future mailout, but get the date in yr dairy now (incidentally, if you're interested in hosting The Retail Sectors in your home town, please get in touch!)
What else? Oh yeah, the photos for the Distraction Weekender are finally up. Took us long enough like. Many thanks to Idene Roozbayani and James Grey for those.
Right then, we're offski. Remember, spread the word about d_rradio remixed, and get yer hands on a CD if you enjoy it.
Stay with it folks,
distraction. x.
