If you’ve ever been to a club, bar or house party where the DJ was playing House music, the likelihood is that at least one of the records you heard was signed to Defected. For the last 10 years they’ve been releasing tunes that have defined the scene and are now unquestionably the global authority within the genre.

It was legendary DJ and Space resident Steve Lawler who famously said “House music is the soundtrack to the more deviant, exciting rebellious side of life”; handily summing up much of what the Defected philosophy is all about. Every year, more than half a million people attend Defected In the House events around the globe, with millions more exposed to the DJs and tracks associated with the label. Operating in more than 40 countries, Defected are the most internationally recognisable dance brand in the world with a reputation built on the love of music. As founder and chief A&R man Simon Dunmore says; “It’s ultimately about having a good Saturday night out “, a philosophy that is clearly evident at their long-standing residencies at Pacha, Ibiza (every Saturday through the summer) and Ministry of Sound, London.

With millions of records sold globally, the label has worked with some of the biggest and most creative names in the business, and is responsible for introducing talents such as Bob Sinclar, Junior Jack, ATFC, Sandy Rivera and Copyright to an ever-hungry audience.

OUT NOW! This year the honour of mixing the Miami In The House compilation has gone to an artist that is currently one of the hottest properties in dance music. His fans include Annie Mac, Pete Tong, Joris Voorn and Claude Von Stroke and he is famous for his bouncy, energetic and main room sound, his mixes and productions are full of humour, insane instruments, trombones, horns and pounding infectious beats. Check out his own insane production and opener of CD2, ‘I Was Drunk’, a signature Riva Starr production. Catchy, humorous, with a vibe that makes you want to dance, borrowing a gypsy style sound and clocking up an impressive quarter of a million views on YouTube. It’s not just his own productions that attract attention, his remix of Reboot’s Enjoy Music is highly infectious and his eagerly anticipated remix Dennis Ferrer ‘Hey Hey’ possibly this year’s most talked about house record has the makings of a stone-cold classic. Available to buy at iTunes & all good music stores
