In 1995 Gabe Hayward created a fictional character named Crunchy, an intelligent bird-like creature whose likeness became the symbol of this company. Coined in 2001, the term “CrunchyCo” is a combination of that character’s name (Crunchy), and the abbreviation for company (Co).
In 2006 Aaron Campion (CamelJR) and Gabe Hayward (ExtraGabe) purchased the domain “CrunchyCo.com”, and the site has been updated regularly since.
CrunchyCo distributes a variety of musical artists and bands, many of whom incorporate chiptune sounds into their music. CrunchyCo also hosts webcomics, films, and images, as well as distributing physical comics and board games.
