Copeland International Arts is dedicated to the expansion of Western interest in the music and performing arts generally of other cultures that are so often neglected by the mainstream entertainment business and media. Arts often create the most positive bridge between cultures at a time that cultural conflicts seem to dominate the news. If you can dance to the same rhythm and appreciate the same music you may be able to find common ground on difficult issues as well.

But CIA is not just about finding common ground it is also about the simple task of creating an outlet for great music to be heard that will in itself enrich ones musical taste and appreciation. The major focus of the company will be Middle Eastern arts including North African, Turkish, and Persian arts. The company will also encourage multi ethnic collaborations and hybrids merging arts of the East with arts of the West.

It is important to note that the task of “breaking” a foreign music into the Western mainstream is not an easy one as too few media opportunities exist. Choice of what music to release is therefore crucial. In this care is taken to choose music that will appeal melodically and rhythmically to the Western ear. Music that is heavily dependent on understanding the lyrics to be appreciated would therefore be an unlikely choice to release. My basic premise is simple, if I like the music other people will too.
