Blackbird Music is a US west coast independent record label with artists,POWER OF COUNTY, THE MONOTONES, LEFT ALONE, LE MEU LE PURR, FRANKLIN FOR SHORT, THE MISSING 23RD, THE SHAPE, HAIL THE BLACK MARKET, PSYCHO CAFE and a handful of artists that we work with on a management level. We started as a way for some friends that were in a band called the American Cheese Band to con booking agents and venues into giving us opening slots or just gigs in general. Since Blackbird Music began our main goal has only been to support the local Ventura Music scene and help out our favorite artists anyway we could, mostly booking them on shows locally and in Los Angeles. We soon opened a local Ventura venue called The Livery Theater to all ages shows on Sundays in 2001 and for awhile it was great there was lots of good bands and we got some great national acts, but as all things go we could no longer afford the insurance when the local scene slowed down, so at this point we decided that we would concentrate all of our energy on our small record label and the handful of artists we loved.
