What is the Ben Sherman Big British Sound exactly? Each year Ben Sherman selects a range of the best emerging artists in Australian independent music to come together and celebrate Ben Sherman’s British music heritage. Each band throws one or two covers into their set from British artists they are influenced by, or who they simply dig.
The result is a line up of Australia’s best up and coming musicians, and a chance for fans to capture one or two special moments of these artists in a new light.
The 2009 event saw some startling sets from artists including Tame Impala, Art vs Science, Little Red, Jack Ladder and The Seabellies. Tame Impala’s cover of ‘Remember Me’ was one of the more compelling moments of the night, the track making it into 2009’s Triple J Hottest 100.
Ben Sherman has been intrinsically involved with British music since its beginning in the 60’s. The brand has been synonymous with the sounds of punk, nu-wave and beyond with artists and bands including The Clash, New Order, Pulp, The Kinks, David Bowie, Kate Bush, Paul McCartney, Style Council, Morrisey and many more supporting the Ben Sherman brand on stage and in their everyday lives.
