Playful and inventive, influenced by everything, terry nation as a band fought against the you can be as quiet as you like as long as it's loud mentality of studio compression. terry nation believe in dynamic range from black to white with shades of grey.
Intimate, innovative, ahead of it's time, showing a healthy disrespect for categories while sonically clearly being in love with the feel of early electro hip hop. Disputing the current revisionist wisdom and taking the idea that early electro circa'83 had more in common with punk than dance, terry nation set about finding energy in simple sounds, making use of whatever equipment was around, doing everything yourself and holding an unshakeable belief in the power of words and music.
A tree falling is cut and spliced from the new and the old and a few tunes rediscovered in the abandoned studio. The album moves rapidly between stripped down electro, intimate and lyrical to sensual and magical to sparse and ascerbic. terry nation then spend a year deciding on the perfect sequence. The album can be heard on Last FM in January.
