Alcopop was formed in Oxford, UK during 2006 but has since re-located to Bristol, UK. Owned by two music fanatics by the name of Kevin Douch and Jack Clothier, Alcopop is an upcoming independent label with an indie-pop background. When the label originally formed, it was called ‘Alcopop!’ but, as of January 2008, made the decision to drop an exclamation mark from their title to become ‘Alcopop’ - this coincidently occurred the same week Panic! At the Disco decided upon the same thing.

Alcopop’s first six releases on were bundled together in a promotional ‘Singles Club’ deal whereby, for a total of 17 GBP, the customer would receive a 3” hand crafted and numbered limited edition (500 copies) CD single on a bi-monthly basis. Releases under the ‘Singles Club’ included 4 or 5 Magicians’ “Forever On the Edge”, Lucy And The Caterpillar’s “Kings Cross”, Nathaniel Green “Old Folks / Young Folks, compilation release “Alcopopular! (Volume 1)”, data.select.party’s “This Charm is Charmless” and Encyclopedia’s “Emily - the latter of which was the first ever release on the label (ALCOPOP001).

Through Q4 2007 and Q1 2008, Alcopop has released music by Sam Isaac, Family Machine and Gofaster>> and also created the compilation “Alcopopular! (Volume 2)”, which was available exclusivly on cassette tape format. Family Machine’s album “You Are The Family Machine” (released 17th March 2008) is a debut album for both the label and the band.
