AMStunes

Wiki

AMStunes was set up in 2007 by Steven Wilson (Ste) to allow himself and his brother John to release the music they had been working on. Ste began recording with a 4-track, a cheap PC and a Sound Blaster sound card using free software and his guitar he created his first album ‘Explicit Fuzz’. Only 100 copies were pressed and they quickly sold out via the amstunes.co.uk website and a few local record shops. This was a highly original and truthful stoner rock/grunge look at a young man’s life in Britain. Drugs, violence, swearing are all parts of everyday life and this album attempted to realise this.

AMStunes released 2 further albums Ste Wilson’s ‘Silicon based Carbon’ and John S Wilson’s ‘Liquid Acrobat’. Silicon based Carbon is an alternative stoner grunge fuelled list of tunes. This time recorded to a much higher standard the tracks are rich with gritty layered guitars and vocals. The album focuses on the difficulties faced when trying to get noticed in the UK music scene.

John S Wilson’s debut release ‘Liquid Acrobat’ is some of the most original electro/electronica out there. Dirty bass lines, pumped up beats to chilled ambiance. This truly is alternative electro from an alternative mind.

‘Electric Fan Death’ joined AMStunes in 2009, two guys from the UK (Ste Wilson & Ollie Philpott) living in South Korea who create edgy alternative indie. Their debut EP - Yeosu Dangerous was AMStunes’ first official release and is available on both iTunes and Amazon in MP3 and CD format all over the globe. AMStunes started their AMStunes Radio site (http://www.amstunes.co.uk/radio) and launched the AMStunes Alternative Podcast in early 2009. Showcasing new alternative music such as Tear Down The Lies!, Cuba Cuba and Get In Get Out a well as their home grown talent.
