Definitely better than "Is This It", but that's mainly because they'd matured a bit at this point. "Is This It" is great, yet raw. I feel "Comedown Machine" is their best, although most early fans may disagree. Followed by "Room on Fire", "Angles", "Is This It", and finally "FIOE".
I think recent fans (like myself) appreciate the newer stuff more, yet still appreciate the early albums. Early fans are nostalgic for the early stuff. Understandable, but try to listen to the later material with "new" ears. You may appreciate it more.
Either way, The Strokes quickly became one of my all-time favorite bands just this year. I was a late-comer to the show. Now I'm addicted.
