The opening act for the evening were the Omeganauts busting a groove to Dance Central 2, which of course was good for a few cheap laughs at their expense. It wasn't long until the two man comedic duo known as Paul And Storm arrived. I'll admit that I was primarily there to see Jonathan Coulton, but I am so glad I was able to see these two. They are absolutely hilarious! Not only are their songs amusing and full of very awesome harmonies, but their banter is second to none. It's like second nature to them; playing off each other and with the crowd so quickly. They were very much into crowd participation as well, with epic moments such as "The claaaaaaaaaw!" and of course the fan favorite "ARRRRRRRR!" I seriously doubt that there was not a person in that theater (full of about 3000 PAXers) that didn't laugh in that hour.

Ott 6 2007, 18:46 di spiI went to the JoCo rock show at Johnny D's last night. First up were Paul and Storm who I had heard of before but hadn't listened to before. It was a very good set by them. I love their impersonation of TMBG.
Then up came Jonathan Coulton to slow rock us all night long. He played an amazing set with hits such as Code Monkey, Skullcrusher Mountain, Re: Your Brains, Shop Vac, and of course a cover of Baby Got Back with accompaniment by Paul and Storm.
While JoCo was playing Mandelbrot Set the Red Sox won their baseball game so a whole bunch of people who were over in the bar cheered and shouted. It was a nice dichotomy.
The ZenDrum on Mr. Fancy Pants was very awesome. Everyone should own a ZenDrum.
A totally rockin show, I am very glad I went.
Fri 5 Oct – Jonathan Coulton & Paul and Storm
Ott 6 2007, 16:13 di geekatthekneesLast night I went to see Jonathan Coulton play, supported by Paul and Storm.
Paul and Storm won my heart within the first ten seconds of their first song (Opening Band) and then promptly lost it with a homophobic slur in the second one (Your Town). Overall, though, they have a new fan in me -- hilariously funny, great relationship with the audience, and certainly musically talented and nuanced enough to make them worth listening to again later.
Jonathan Coulton was. Oh. Seriously awesome. There was really no way he could disappoint me, but the happy, dorky showmanship and the occasional genuine smile (when the entire room sang the central refrain of Re Your Brains at him without any cue but the first chord) were a real pleasure to see. The atmosphere was delightful, I physically couldn't stop grinning, and the person I was with had only heard a couple of the songs before, so I got to see him crack the hell up for the very first time listening to some of my favourites.
