COMPUTER GAMES AND THE MUSIC
For the first time when I've heard Postcards from a Young Man thought that the plural form of the title - Postcards From Young Men - would fit much better because the album sounds very fresh, like you were 20 years younger.
It's true. Journal For Plague Lovers gave us a lot of energy and vitality. We have never felt old, maybe sometimes and a little bit, when we're are in the middle of a tour. Our last album gave us strenght to return with something that would reach a mass audience and would show them that we haven't run anywhere or hidden in the darkness of the recording studio or disbanded just to return in 10 years like some of the bands have. …

Dic 24 2008, 0:39 di -jc-as threatened, a quick top level overview of previous albums of the year, ahead of this year's list. can you feel the tension yet? no? didn't think so.
as stated, these are obviously personal choices, based on experiences associated with certain tracks that soundtracked that year. i'm not trying to score any points here - you know how shocking my tastes are - more just keep a record for myself of progress through the years. yeah, so my tastes haven't particularly evolved over the years: so shoot me.
ok, starting waaaaaaaay back, right to when i started caring about all of this...
1995 - Oasis - (What's The Story) Morning Glory
you name me one kid from the mid 90s who's school days weren't soundtracked in some way by Oasis. no matter whether you liked them or not, they were always there in the background somewhere... Top of the Pops, TFI Friday, the news... your mate learning guitar... house parties (that you probably still called sleepovers back then)...
Ago 2 2008, 18:13 di KaitjuWhich wasn't a bad thing this time. Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends was a positive surprise and took a few good plays to open up. It's been a new album season all together. Death Cab for Cutie spat out Narrow Stairs and The Futureheads did the same with This Is Not the World. Brill albums both and the dvd that came with "This Is Not The World" was a treat.
I decided to give Nicky Wire's solo debut I Killed The Zeitgeist a chance since James Dean Bradfield's solo was so charming. Not as good but decent stuff all the same. Fanservice perhaps but who cares...
I finally got myself a copy of Eleanoora Rosenholm's Vainajan muotokuva which was one of last year's Finnish indie music sensations. Wonderfully moody and atmospheric indie pop, recommended!
Another new sensation this year: Glasvegas. Their first single off their forthcoming album: Geraldine. Verdict: fucking great!
The shape of Finnish electronic pop music to come is very promising if Déclassé and Jori Hulkkonen have anything to say to that. …

I feel this way i've got the power, the talent, the political audacity and the pure rockingness, to go with the funk. But what do you think??
