The Grand Experiment confuses me. You've got tracks like The Call which are safe, boring and entirely predictable. Then there's Waterfall, which is simple, elegant and beautiful. Then Agenda, which makes my ears cry with how awful it is. Then Alive Again which is absolutely stunning. An entirely inconsistent record, but worth it for the good moments.
His voice sounds too reserved, like he's trying to sing in a library or something. If he would give it some more oomph it would be better. That being said, he does sound better on some songs, like The Door. In addition to oomph he may consider getting a permanent singing partner to benefit from the more harmonious sound of a duet, but that's just my opinion.
hey, for the Kevin Gilbert fans who may come here (Kevin worked with Spock's on both The Light and Beware of Darkness, and "The Great Nothing" is thought of largely about Kevin Gilbert), Kevin's 1st solo record "THUD" could be coming out on VINYL. !Please make a comment (for those who have Facebook) in this Post if you are interested. https://www.facebook.com/kevingilbertofficial/photos/a.240786302798926.1073741842.224649184412638/240785206132369/?type=1
Don't think so, Mike once again stated in his Twitter Q&A yesterday that they're waiting for their schedules (Neal, Mike, Roine, Pete) to align themselves. And since Mike is touring the US with Adrenaline Mob in March and April and probably Europe and Latin America in May and summer, a Transatlantic release in 2013 would be too early. 2014 maybe! Although Roine, Mike and Neal will be performing together in March now, and I'm so happy to see them, there will be a Transatlantic finale!!!
Like I said long ago, he is one of the best composers of our time. Really wish to see him live, solo or Transatlantic doesn't matter. Btw. can't wait for new Transatlantic record in 2013. Best prog supergroup.
And there's more! Big Big Train (sept), Pineapple Thief (sept), Archive (august), Rush (june), Sigur Ros (in a week), Anglagard (june), echolyn (june), Spock's Beard (later this year), Marillion (sept), Riverside (later this year), Amplifier (later this year), Blackfield (later this year)!
Just listened to Testimony through Testimony 2. What an amazing journey. It also makes you notice how very well they intersect and weave together to form one massive, 3.3 hour long concept album, but still each part of it is unique. Neal is a genius.
