• Lordi - The Arockalypse

I've never heard of Lordi prior to their Eurovision Song Contest-win. During Lordis performance, I was like "What the fuck is this?", but found the costumes rather funny. So, nearly a month has passed since the Song Contest and I finally picked up The Arockalypse.

After listening to it during the weekend, I can say that it is not so bad as some friends of mine had told me. But it's not outstanding either. It's decent (hard) rock, nothing more. I like it, but I doubt that I will buy more albums from Lordi.

The Arockalypse consists of twelve tracks, including Hard Rock Hallelujah [1]. Some tracks are really good, like The Deadite Girls Gone Wild or The Kids Who Wanna Play With the Dead.

I don't know if I can recommend the album. If you like hard rock, you should give it a try, but don't expect to much. If you don't like this kind of music, it's best to ignore it. :)

[1] It seems that there are two versions of the album, one with and one without Hard Rock Hallelujah.

update (30/07/2006): added the two tracks that wasn't included in the promo album!

It's been almost a month since I aquired the up-coming album by Lordi, named "The Arockalypse" (Official release date is March), so now I feel comfortable to give a full review of this album, song-by-song. Anyone who's lazy to read the whole journal can skip till the IN CONCLUSION line :)

we'll start right from the beginning:
    1) SCG3 Special Report -
This time Lordi spoofing a special news report (no music here). I won't spoil you about its content, but here's a hint - it is STRONGLY connected to the title of the album.
Anyway, I found it quite funny.

    2) Bringing Back the Balls to Rock -
Frankly, I don't like this song a bunch. It doesn't mean this song sucks, I just heard better than it. It has a nice chrous but mostly it sounds like a generic hard rock song taken from the early 80's.
I found it very similar to Too High To Get It Right.

    3) The Deadite Girls Gone Wild -
