Feb 28 2008, 16:30 di headcubeYears ago I posted some music on last.fm by a friend and myself. We called ourselves The Sand People are Easily Startled but They will be back in Greater Numbers but unfortunately we only got to record one track. I quite like that track, though, as it has a certain feel to it.
Anyway, I've just noticed that last.fm has generated a list of similar artists to The Sand People are Easily Startled but They will be back in Greater Numbers and it's an inspiring mix of completely brilliant, completely stupid music, most of it heavily chiptune-influenced.
I'm posting it here because I happen to know there's a big update to the similarity algorithm coming soon and I want to preserve the list for future reference. And also because this connects my music to the profiles of dozens of obscure artists, perhaps bringing a listener or two.
Finally I might as well take the opportunity to plug my current musical project, Escape from the Head Cube. …
Gen 31 2008, 18:01 di ebcommunityKombinat 100 have been lubricating dancefloors across Europe for some time now with their House and Techno meets Jazz meets Disco live act. Wege übers Land can be seen as a culmination of all those live shows, as every track seems to have been honed to perfection. From the wistful piano led opener Flieg Kleine Taube, to the Roy Budd meets Patrick Cowley disco stomp of Out Of My Space, accordions, congas, crisp beats and a definite French flavour are order of the day. Whilst this might not be to everyone’s taste (it certainly brought to mind the Gotan Project in places), as an album contemporary House, it’s hard to fault.
