I love "you can build yourself a house of leaves and live like its the evergreens" It has so many meanings about constancy and change, but its when I hear "I believe that my life's gonna see the love I give returned to me" that I melt. That's really how I feel about things too!
I had a really bad breakup early this year and I kept this song on repeat for about a month to remind that it hurt, but all that love I 'gave' would come back and I would find somebody new. And you know what? It really helped!
I liked John Mayer brfore i heard this song on his second full studio album, and then 'boom' last track on a really great 20something album. ( you know very lost in translation moving from one moment to the next with out knowing how or why the way only that 20 something ennui can bring about)...anyway, losing numbers and touch with friends or lovers.
"And you won't be the first. No you won't be the first, to love me. You can find me, if you ever want to give, I'll be around the bend, I'll be around the bend, I'll be around, I'll be around"
Those lines kick my ass just right every time. It's bitter sweet in the best way. You can also see the influence this line of though has on other work like " the heart of life, or even in repair."
i believe that my life's gonna see the love i give returned to me:)
it's a gorgeous song, and it's amazing live. when i saw him August 2008, he added in "i still haven't found what i'm looking for" by U2. so, so great. one of the best songs all night,
Whenever I am in an airport now I hear 'In airports, see it all the time. Where someone's last goodbye blends into someone's 'hi'' This is a deep song!!
i was pretty obsessed with this song for a LONG while, even though it is pretty sad. i believe that that is my favorite line on Heavier Things yup <3
