jespre you just don't know what you're talking about, oh, imho of course. He didn't have great guitar work on his first two albums? Are you for serious? There are amazing moments of guitar work on both of those albums. The backward guitar bits on Untitled #2 or For Air are beautiful, just to name a couple. And why compare his early stuff to Sebadoh? Those artists took totally different approaches stylistically.
why do people always bitch about which is said artists best album, thats in the eye of the beholder.
however, for newcomers, i would recommend curtains, the past recedes is an awesome look at how he turned his life around. his first two album, no they werent that great when compared to other lo-fi from that era.. sebadoh/sentridoh/lou barlow had him beat.
what john does best is great guitar work and his great vocals, which he did not have during the first two albums.
Oh, dear John, where have you been all this years :( I must own [album artist=john frusciante]Shadows Collide With People[/album] on vinyl, it`s so fuckin beautiful, but damn it`s also so expensive :,(
The most easily accessible one would probably be 'Shadows Collide with People', but any of his releases from that year (2004) would suffice. Personally I'd throw myself in at the deep end and go for his debut, 'Niandra', and second album, 'Smile from the Streets You Hold', but they can be a bit too much for first time listeners.
Happy Birthday to John Frusciante! My favourite guitar player, thanks for your amazing performance at RHCP concert in 2007 in Chorzow. Especially for This Velvet Glove and brilliant solo and outro in Don't Forget Me!
The albums from the '90s and the more recent experiments since leaving the band is his most messed up. Anything between that might be weird by normal standards, but very normal in Frusciante standards. It's all great stuff in its own rights though.
So I hear the dude from fakin peppers makes some interesting stuff. Anyone care to give me like an album to start of with (could not care less about Peppers and not super interested in stuff that's like classic rock or country or whatever. Hit me with that weird, experimental shit). If you can be bothered that is.
