This theme was used by a French singer Mylène Farmer as an opener of her great shows during her latest tour. A few thousands of people surrounded by darkness of the stadium and listening to this... Very impressive!
The "social experiment" themes in this track are simply riveting - I must say that HZ'z and JNH's mindblowing work on the Joker themes play some part in Heath earning so much praise for his on-screen performance. One week 'til the obvious handing of the supporting actor award =) Shame that the soundtrack couldn't qualify for a nomination due to artist contribution ambiguities.
One of my favorite tracks from Batman Begins was Lasiurus. It was the kind of song one could walk around to and think, or even write to. But with "A Dark Knight", Zimmer and Newton Howard have really topped themselves. The one thing that the Batman Begins soundtrack missed was an end credits track. This makes up for that. Starting out with a somber version of the theme used in "Like a Dog Chasing Cars", it's a great second Batman theme that hits home the conflict and tragedy playing out. You don't even have to see the movie to know something's at serious stake here. About 7 minutes in, the song changes over to "I'm Not a Hero", which slowly rises and falls (with a little bit of the Joker's one note to boot snuck in). The final 2 minutes kicks in with a electronic version of the original Begins theme. There's a (too short) YouTube video of Zimmer and Newton Howard playing this part live, which is really cool. Easily the best piece I've heard. Also try the Animated movie theme.
