When I first heard of a band named Fugazi, my first thought was "progressive rock". Seriously, the name just made me think prog. It would've been hard to be much further from the truth. I had heard good things about the band on a message board somewhere, and so checked them out on Allmusic on a whim. Their legendary work ethic and refusal to "sell out" interested me -- how could I refuse a group that offered five dollar shows? I eventually came to this compilation, which seemed as good a place to start as any. Including the original acclaimed EPs that brought the group to people's attention, 13 Songs is definitely a good introduction to this powerful band.
This is visceral music that appeals to the primal need in me to hit stuff. I enjoyed the dynamics in these songs, the way some of them alternate between subdued and loud, and others between loud and louder. My initial favorite is the bitter, caustic, and dynamic misogyny-accusation Suggestion. …

Ott 29 2006, 22:26 di tomautoI'll start off by saying that I don't really dig going to stripclubs, I'm a married guy and I don't see the point of paying a beautiful women to act like she wants to have sex with me when I can go home and not pay a beautiful women who really does want to have sex with me (at least most of the time). That being said I do have one friend in particular who will head to these bastions of sin every once in awhile, and apparently after we went to a college football game on a Saturday night, he was feeling the urge, and I went along.
ANYWAY we were not there for long and one of the last girls there took the stage for her act and I instantly recognized the beginning of Suggestion blast out over the loud speakers.
why can't i walk down a street free of suggestion? is my body the only trait in the eye's of men? i've got some skin you want to look in there lays no reward in what you discover you spent yourself watching me suffer suffer you words, suffer your eyes…
