Just finished listening to Northern Gospel and as I suspected, it is Absolutely F*@#ing Incredible. North, Heartsleeves, Transatlantic, and the rerecording of A Little War (which has always been one of my fave songs by her, and one of my all time fave songs in highschool) are all unbelievably grogeous!!!!! Great job Emm, you've outdone yourself!

Wow I'm surprised Hello Aquarius is the 3rd most popular song. It's actually one of my all-time faves. I remember requesting it during a brief intermision for a performance at First Canadian Place in Toronto (this was about 10 years ago). She said "no" but she tricked me b/c she actually played it in her 2nd set. What a great gal... and a prankster.
Emm Gryner is one of my favourite singers of all time. She's got an amazing sense of melody and writes lyrics from the heart. "Public" was my breakup album when my first boyfriend and I broke up.
I'm also a huge Tori fan but the one album I cannot get into is Strange Little Girls. I agree with the post a few down from this one; Girl Versions is much better! Emm's Straight To You is definitive for me.
If you like piano/vocal music you might like [artist]Jason Silver[/artist]. The [album artist=Jason Silver]Sunny Days[/album] and [album artist=Jason Silver]Ghost Town[/album] CDs are free downloads too.
she is fantastic live. i got to see her in 2004 w/Holly Palmer. Someone taped the entire show (if i knew you could i SO would have brought my gear!) if anyone has it please contact me, i'd love to have a copy. It was Nov 2004 at the Fez Under Time in NYC. I also got to meet Emm at this show (she signed my copy of Asian Blue) she's such a sweet, down to earth person. Emm forever. :)
She's wonderful in a live setting, and she sounds so authentic, as compared to her albums. I've only been to one of her shows, but I have another next month and I can't wait. Last fall, she and her band had the sweetest jam session to Almighty Love and I'm hoping for an encore of that.
