Wayne Funnel is a freelance Science/Historical Correspondent with ABC Radio Australia. His illustrated talks are also regularly broadcast during The Night Air, the cult “listening for pleasure” program heard from 8:30 pm on Sunday evenings on ABC Radio National.

For this 11:11 podcast Wayne has prepared an especially extended admixture of his unique commentary interspersed with surprisingly entertaining musical items.

N.B. Whilst the utmost care has been taken in the selection and transcription of these discs, many of them were garnered during Wayne’s frequent visits to St. Vincent De Paul stockists and so he can, at this point, only apologise for any incidental surface noise or needle excursions that may occasionally punctuate the presentation.

  • Happy Birthday + A More Inquisitive Survey

    Gen 9 2010, 0:10 di Ennish

First of all, I'd like to say Happy Birthday to some musicians/singers that have been important to my life thus far:

    1. Elvis Presley (would have been 75) - Grew up listening to his music quite a lot via the radio, my dad playing his stuff on the guitar (he's a big fan of Elvis), and putting the Lilo and Stitch Original Soundtrack on repeat when I got it back in 2002. I wouldn't call myself a fan, but I greatly admire all that he's done and how he changed not just rock 'n roll, but music as we know it. I even did a project on him back in middle school thanks to the influence my parents and the CD put upon me. He's also been greatly admired by...

    2. David Bowie (63) - Ah. Bowie. If it weren't for those two concerts I saw on TV this past summer, a couple of interviews on YouTube, and my dad constantly strumming the opening chords to Space Oddity, I wouldn't be writing this right now. He's been a great inspiration and hero to me ever since I got into him back in September. …
  • A list of Splendid Splendidness

    Apr 20 2007, 22:25 di Gnac

This entry serves two main purposes: one is sort of useful and the other(s) is/are utterly stupid.

First, the stupid reasons: to pimp this link in the artist pages of everyone I listen to, to shamelessly get people to click on it, and to annoy those who did.

Second, to test a PHP script which automatically extracts data from Winamp generated HTML playlists - so I can honestly say that this DOES contain everything on my playlist at the time I made this entry.
