Paul McCartney's Simply Having a Wonderful Christmas time has already been banned from the office. Rightly so. It makes The Frog Chorus sound like Let It Be.
Anyway I'm on the hunt for festive tunes which are outside of the normal. Ormondroyd's cover of Stop The Cavalry is superb and I'm a sucker for The Wedding Present's cover of Step Into Christmas but most of all I proclaim TWP's Octopussy as a festive tune.
The line about snow hanging in the air gives it the creds, the mood and refrain - "You don't take away my hand, like you ought to. You've become my family.
I don't want to understand why I need you. You've just become my family" - gets to the heart of the Christmas experinace. Family, and it's growth and shrinking.
