Dic 31 2010, 15:18 di edimervaldo2010 was a year of some changes, some hard moments but also lots of fun. In music, some good discoveries and greater presence of mainstream songs in my days (and also in my top 20):
20 - Alice Cooper - You And Me Maybe one of the best love songs ever made.
19 - Lady Gaga - Bad Romance Everywhere I went there was "Bad Romance", so here it is too.
18 - Paul McCartney & Wings - Mrs. Vandebilt Going to McCartney show certainly was one of the best moments of the year. I discovered this song because of the show and loved it instantly.
17 - Edward Maya - Stereo Love The accordeon riff of this song is catchy. As this song became a world mania in 2010, it could not be different to me.
16 - Jackson do Pandeiro - Feito de Manteiga I never thought I could like so much a song of this style. But its happy mood and with a very nice keyboard part made me listen to it many times this year.
15 - Ke$ha - TiK ToK Pop music came back to me strongly this year, and this was one of the best on the radio…

Feb 22 2010, 17:44 di chrisfishlockAn interesting topic came up on a forum I view, ‘What 7 albums show your personal musical journey through time’ or something like that, anyway at almost 18 I havent really had a musical journey as much as some, but I definatly had one, so here is how my music taste has developed to what it is now, and a conclusion as to how it may develop more.
Cartoons - Toonage - 1998 This was my favourite album when I was 6, I was that cool, but obviously I was 6, I wasnt really into music then, but my taste did mature a bit soon after, but still in chart/pop music, but not as kiddy as Cartoons…
5ive - Invincible - 1999 This is the last album I remember getting before my music taste dramatically changed, it might of been their next album thinking about it, but I remember the songs on this album better, but then I moved house and met new people, I dont think I got this album when it came out when I was 7, but more about 10 or 9. But as I just said my music taste then changed quite dramatically…

Dic 29 2009, 1:08 di peticA couple of weeks ago I was at a birthday party, and when some reggae was playing a friend of mine remarked that she liked it. Then I offered to compile a cd-ful of tracks in this genre, so as to give her an idea of what this music is about.
The result is available for all to take: you can find the link at the end of the journal entry.
First I thought I would just pick a few reggae favourites and be done with it - as I had started a "favourite" folder, this wouldn't have been difficult. This folder already contained some rocksteady tracks as well, so I decided to broaden the spectrum, and try to introduce my friend to the development of the various genres in a chronological order.
Now, I do not in any way pretend to be an expert of Jamaican music; let's just say that this compilation is as much a collection of my favourites as an introduction to Jamaican music. I'm sure many important artists/songs of each genre are not featured on the cd, yet I tried to bear in mind who were the greatest.
