Carl Thomas (born June 15, 1972) is an American R&B singer. He attended Aurora East High School. Thomas sang around Chicago and became a member of The Formula. He branched out however, and traveled to New York where he sang at clubs during open-mic nights. One such performance caught the eye of Sean "Puffy" Combs who signed Thomas to Bad Boy in 1997.

On Bad Boy, Carl Thomas released the single "I Wish" which topped the R&B charts, and set the stage for his debut album, Emotional, in 2000. On the success of the single, and the album's other singles, "Summer Rain," and the title track "Emotional" which reached #18 and #8 on the R&B charts respectively, the album did very well. In fact, Carl Thomas debut album went platinum.

In 2004, Carl Thomas came back with his second album, Let's Talk About It. The album went gold and had moderate success with its singles. The singles for the album were "She Is" and "Make It Alright" which reached #56 and #33 on the R&B charts respectively.

That same year, Carl Thomas was devastated when his only brother was shot and murdered in a drive-by on Halloween night. Despite being involved in promoting his album Let's Talk About It at the time, Carl Thomas was devastated and had to take a break from music.

Carl Thomas received a grammy nomination in 2006 for his collaboration with Chaka Khan, Yolanda Adams and Gerald LeVert on the song "EVeryday." In 2007, he released his third album, So Much Better. Although Thomas was originally part of The Formula, he is best known as an artist on Sean "P. Diddy" Combs' Bad Boy Entertainment record label. His 2000 debut LP, Emotional featured the #1 R&B single "I Wish".

His second album, Let's Talk About It, was released March 23, 2004. No singles from this album charted. The album was hurt by the death of Thomas' step brother, Duranthony Evans. He was shot and killed in a drive by on Halloween night on Aurora's east side. This devastated Thomas, causing him to take time off from music and the promotion of his album.

His third album, So Much Better, was released May 30, 2007 and reached number 25 on the U.S. Billboard 200.

He is featured on Amerie's album Touch (2005).

He has left Bad Boy Records and now signed to Bungalo Records.

On the 2006 2Pac album Pac's Life, he was featured beside Hussein Fatal and Papoose on the track "Dumpin'".

On December 7, 2006, Thomas earned a Grammy Award nomination along with Chaka Khan, Yolanda Adams, and the late Gerald Levert for "Everyday (Family Reunion)," a song from the soundtrack of Tyler Perry's Madea's Family Reunion. The song received a nomination for Best R&B Performance by a Duo Or Group With Vocals.

Rapper Jay-Z's "I Just Wanna Love U (Give It 2 Me)" featuring Pharrell sampled Thomas' "I Wish" on his 2000 album The Dynasty: Roc La Familia.

He is featured on Trey Songz 2009 song "Feels So Good".
