µ-Ziq and Cylob literally saved my ass today, as I was able to get into a flow state and write a goddamn specification document for client in one day. Tried first death metal, stoner rock, even AFX and SQP felt too disruptive and/or interrupting that I wasn't able to get in the mood. But then these champions did it and I'm writing like the devil, lmao! \\o/
in my opinion µ-Ziq sounds way better than Autechre. I didn't listen to their whole discography , but from what i heard i think µ-Ziq has batter production qualities. What do you think people? Of course the tastes are divided, but they are on the top of their genre, which is new for me, but i'm starting to love it. I want to hear more opinions :)
Well, ambient music is a spectrum. Mu-ziq is on the other side as dark ambient, and is on the other side as drone. It's more like ambient techno, which I call post-techno. Have you heard Strawberry Fields Hotel? Then you can see what I am talking about in regards to light.
@acclamationsun: "Ambient of course means light" No it doesn't you silly crab-stick. Try "existing or present on all sides" or "surrounding on all sides" or more specifically to music: "music intended to serve as an unobtrusive accompaniment to other activities (as in a public place) and characterized especially by quiet and repetitive instrumental melodies"
I would contest, even though there's a lot more "light ambient"music; "dark ambient" is more certainly also a thing.Quite a number of drone artists would fall into this category.
Warmest greetings to all µ-Ziq's fan base. I am the team leader for the Chicago street team. Currently, µ-Ziq has 3.1 million plays and we want to reach 4 million by mid-year of 2014. That means, start listening. If I may suggest, the track "Phi*1700 [U/V]" has been getting noticed here in Chicago and people are amazed the song is 20 years old. Yet, it stands up to the modern scene. We are always saying, magazines like Rolling Stone are going to say µ-Ziq is their pride & joy but not until the year 2019. Help us reach 4 million. -Ken Williams
Never really listened to µ-Ziq before, but the Somerset Avenue Track sound amazing. They sound so fucking good, first time listening it and I think this could just throw Selected Ambient Works out of the window.
