For all members who are fed up with elitist attitudes in shoutboxes, journals and forums.

This is where members can come together to proudly express their love for artists without scrutiny.

Do you like Britney Spears? Linkin Park? Slipknot? Say so, and do it with pride.

Picture explanation:
The avatar is a picture of T.S. Eliot. I love the guy, love his poetry, love his writing. It breaks my heart, but his attitude reeked of elitism. Sorry, sir!

To see what what prompted me to make this group, click HERE

Freedom Of Music - everyone is free to listen to whatever music they wish.
Non-Elitist - another anti-elitist group
Get the hell out of our shoutboxes - those that had enough with shoutbox wars
I Hate Music Snobs - had it with music snobs in general?
The Openminded Society - only for the openminded
Stop Music Racism - another musical freedom group

(contact me to have your group added here).

Thanks to CareALotClouds for starting up this group...563 members and still going strong.

I love people who waste hours at a time shouting nothing but their black and white, profanity-filled, opinion(s) in a shoutbox on Last.fm on the internet. I don't even waste my time reading comments anymore, cause no matter what, there's always at least one pathetic low-life on every artist's page who just wants attention. I'm almost to the point where I want to leave Last.fm because of it. Trolling, flaming, and utter stupidity is why I hopped off the YouTube train. Next stop, LAST.FM!

Metal elitists make me ashamed to be a metalhead sometimes. Why can't we all just get along & agree that one's taste is not better than the other? I remember arguing with this guy in my shoutbox & I told him that I can listen to what I want even though he said I listened to some horrible bands. I can't help that I listen to a fuckton of bands from a variety of metal sub-genres.

Most played artist, unique to this group, My Chemical Romance. One of my favorites. And the charts are truly diverse. Simon & Garfunkel! I've never seen them on anyone's charts before.

Call for participants of online survey about Last.fm user experience. Hi, my name is Yaxi Chen and I come from the research group of Media Informatics, University of Munich, Germany. Currently I am conducting an online survey about Last.fm user experience. I would be really appreciate if you could join this survey or forward the link http://ofb.msd-media.de/lastfm/ to Last.fm users you know. There are 3 pages in total and probably cost about 10 minutes to fill it out. Thanks in advance. My contact method: yaxi.chen@ifi.lmu.de

yes pillcake, you are true, mainstream is just less then 1% of the music industry, but those listeners just listen to those artists because they dont search for new ones by themselves, humans have very different tastes in things, it would be impossible that this double super ultra mega extreme amount of listeners would like the same things. So the explanation to this is that most of listeners just get into a new artist when tv shows a new artist to them. Since as I said before, the numbers of mainstream artists are less then 1% of the total music industry, this huge amount of listeners will listen to this ultra tiny list of artists no matter what musical taste they have. The reason is that because of their way of getting into new music, its like if the music industry was composed of almost only those mainstream artists, so, no matter what taste they have, those mainstream artists are the only ones that "exist", so, they can't listen to other things, since they dont "exist".

It's not that I care if people listen to mainstream bands, even some of my top artists are way mainstream. What I don't understand is why people don't prod under the mainstream a little bit for their tastes? There are a plethora of bands similar to mainstream bands out there... that nobody listens to because they don't bother to dig... I don't know. Just my two cents about it.
