  • Regex Radio

    It would be pretty nice if you could have finer-grained control over which artists and genres play on radio stations. I listen to hip-hop and the suggestion engine won't stop suggesting shitty hip-hop, and I just want to listen to indie... See quodlibet

  • Band tags in alphabetical order

    I've just started tagging my bands so I can keep track of them by genres. For some reason you can't arrange them alphabetical order, thus making everything more cluttered. All in all it seems like a no brainer to me. Furthermore why do we have to tag bands on are own just to keep track of an individual genres? I have over 1400 in my library to date and fear it could take months before I've categorized them all. I think it would much better if there was a genre tab option already integrated within our library. if we can view bands alphabetically then why can't we view bands by genre?

  • I don't know if this is better in the 'subscription' thread but i suggest that every year on the user's birthday they get one day's free subscription -- it would help promote subscribing as many users who normally wouldn't think of subscribing might find they can no longer do without the additional features after they've had them for a day...and if not, then hey, cool birthday present and a 'thanks' from for using the service!

  • Hmm, since seems to have several specialised moderator groups, why not introduce a new group specifically for incorrect track/artist/album capitalisations? I'm going to guess I'm correct in thinking the only people other than staff who can do it are the top group of moderators... and that thread isn't checked by them very often (I don't blame them, there's not many of them, and I'm sure there's more important stuff they should be looking out for than a bunch of people whining about a track being capitalised wrongly). It can be frustrating like no other to post a correction and wait what seems like months for it to take effect (without going straight to a staff member to do it-- once again I'm sure you guys have more important stuff to worry about than getting PMs about corrections).

    It should be possible to customize the charts (settings) of your friends, because then it's much easier to compare between two users.

    More precisely: You should have the choice to select between your own and the default settings of your friends.

    Good Idea?

  • I imagine some people have already suggested this idea but it would be cool to have other colours than black and red to "paint" the site. I mean, I WANT PINK.

  • ^ This.

    -> Maybe you should try Stylish

  • ^ If it works that's so rad. *Searches for pink*...

    ...or do your own style.. ;)

  • The only pink theme there doesn't appear to work with the post-2008 so i've got one that turns the majority of my links pink instead and that looks rad in my opinion but it would be cool to be able to 'paint it pink' or purple or any other colour really, lol. I have no idea how to make my own, haha.

    cross reference similar artists

    I have an idea and I don't know whether it's been said before but a quick forum search on "similar artists" showed nothing the like.

    The idea is to make it possible to input several artists and have find out which artists have the highest combined similarity to the artists put in. That way it would be possible to find an artist which has a sound in between the given artists. Basically it shouldn't be too hard to make whereas the algorithm for the similar artists function which we use now could simply be compared to another and averaged.

    Anyone else agree this would be nice to have? Or reasons not to create this function?

    What about a "plays per listener" counter on artist's page?
    It could look like this for example:

    I guess it's pretty easy to implement technically, and it would make a better overview of how many people only check out the artist, and how many of them actually listen to the artist on a regular basis.

    Honestly, the biggest thing I want is for my Ipod to scrobble when I use it, that would make my charts way more accurate, mostly because my Ipod usually never srobbles, even when I diagnose it and such

  • I would love to be able to ban entire artists.

    @bemineprophet: as long as its impossible, try this:
    there you can use the "not" function. but it's not possible to save the settings until now.

    i want to repeat a wish i already had some years before. it sounds a bit stupid, but it makes sense somehow: please deactivate the "love" button, when the track is already loved.

    Stations for playlists and loved tracks

    I'm relatively new here so I might already be able to do what I'm about to suggest, just so you know ^^;

    But umm...I noticed we have options for exporting both our playlists and our loved tracks. But why can't we just listen to those using the radio?
    You can treat the playlists like their own stations and make a station called "your loved tracks" that only plays the tracks you've loved, so that way you can further narrow down what you want to listen to.

    Like I said, I might already be able to do this here, but I didn't see how so if I can please guide me through it.
    If not though, then that's some ideas for you ^^;

  • ^We used to do exactly that as a subscription feature, but unfortunately we had to stop them a couple of years ago.

    How about a page in user profile with bands seen live? Sure we can make such a list as a journal or in "about me" but I think it would be cool to have something specific for that. It could be based on the events system. Of course when you go to a festival it doesn't mean you'll see all the bands performing, but it could be solved by something to select the ones you did see after the event ends. Another way could be to somehow include this in the existing events page in the profile.

  • Add stations to a Queue

    Ability queue and bookmark stations. is special in that it's better than all in music discovery/recommendation but I often have to go back to search that station to never find it again.
