Description:
We need your help to take Lucky Soul to the top of the charts this Christmas, otherwise Simon Cowell will get another karaoke reality show puppet to No. 1, or the Spice Girls will take over again....

Save Xmas from the X FactorLucky Soul for Christmas No. 1

Click to Buy Lips are unhappy

What you can do

Thousands of Last.fm users voted for the Lucky Soul song ‘Lips Are Unhappy’ to be the track that battles the winner of the X Factor this December.

It’s real, independent music chosen by Last.fm’s passionate community vs. mass-marketed karaoke nonsense released simply to line Simon Cowell’s pockets (in contrast, all of the profits from the Lucky Soul song will go to War Child).

Strike a blow against sanitized, predictable reality show muzak. Buy ‘Lips Are Unhappy’ for a mere 40p and you can also download an exclusive, unreleased Lucky Soul track (and know that you’re bringing some Christmas cheer to War Child). If you all buy a copy it really WILL happen, and you’ll be helping to break the stranglehold the X-Factor has on our Xmas charts.

Buy Lips Are Unhappy now and download an exclusive new Lucky Soul track as well.

OR

Text lonelylips to 78789 (purchases by SMS will cost £1.50, UK residents only)

‘Lips Are Unhappy/Lonely This Christmas’ will be released on December 17th. All profits go to War Child.

I think this band is signed to Sony Music Japan. It doen't sound very indie to me.

How many dl's does it take to get in the 75 these days. This group has 500 members (max?) if most of those bought the song (you know who you are if you didn't) then surely that would get it in at 75. Shame.

Oh well folks, we did our best! Thanks to everyone who supported our bid: we raised a bit of money for War Child and had some festive fun on the way - and to those who got in something of a lather about this, it was supposed to be a bit of fun ok? :) Happy holidays everyone.

Wow - that's one serious disaster! Surprised that Malcolm Middleton charted so low given the amount of backing it's been given, and I'm also quite surprised that this campaign hasn't even dented the Top 75. Usually with a co-ordinated effort behind it, a track can at least make some impact on the singles chart these days. Shame.

Isn't it a cheesey tradition that the Christmas Number one is as bad and as kitsch as possible? I say someone should re-release Mistletoe and Wine or even Ernie (The Fastest Milkman in the west). If one of those quality classics was re-released I would move back to England just to buy it. I say buy the Christmas kitsch, and have a sense of humour about these things. And those videos are getting

I think I might even care if I lived in the UK. or listened to the radio or followed charts. Speaking of... and just as a matter of clarity: Since I don't, would my purchase even count towards the charts? if it does then that does seem like an ideal way to game the system. More power to making the UK charts reflect American taste. (with all due sarcasm)

I think it's great that someone's really going for it to get these guys to #1... Last.FM + LS were brave to do it. Now we should support them - doesn't matter whether you like the track or not - it matters that you're passionate about original music and doing something a bit different. Why should we settle for having dull MOR stuff at #1 every xmas. I've just bought a copy of the track - Go LS!!!

I'm all for the last fm xmas single idea. LS are a great band who won a democratic vote to be the last fm sponsored single. Anyone who can get worked up about an email and a notice on the dashboard clearly has too much time on their hands. x
