  • The Cassini Projekt

    Name: The Cassini Projekt,
    Currently: 27 plays, 6 listeners
Genre: prog/hard rock with elements of industrial, glam and bombastic rock.
    Website: http://soundcloud.com/search?q[fulltext]=The+Cassini+Projekt, http://thecassiniproject.wordpress.com/

If you like Pink Floyd, Queen, The Darkness, Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson or Radiohead, you may like this band. Additionally if you're a fan of guitar solo antics, riffs and unashamed bombastic rock with a complete disregard for musical conventions then you definately will like this band.

    couple of promising sub-2k groups

Name: The Blue Giant Zeta Puppies
    Currently: 136 plays (9 listeners)
    Genre: 60s garage rock
    Website: http://thebluegiantzetapuppies.bandcamp.com/
Latest Album: Martians Don't Surf! - Halloween Party EP

Inspired by trashy sci-fi and zombie movies, the Martian's Don't Surf EP should in turn inspire film makers to make a film for this soundtrack. Great stuff. They recently played a session for Dandelion Radio.

    Name: 116 inaktiv
    Currently: 81 plays (18 listeners)
Genre: experimental electronic, breakcore (going by the lastfm tags here)
    Website: http://116inaktiv.blogsport.de/
Latest Album: unsure, looks like Untitled Album may or may not be an actual album

A duo from Bremen, Germany with one guy on electronics and the other on heavily effected guitar, they make a very danceable kind of noise. I recommend catching these live if you have a chance.

    Name: Rainbow Danger Club
    Currently: 2,933 plays (216 listeners)
    Genre: art rock?
    Website: http://www.rainbowdangerclub.com/maps/
Latest Album: Where Maps End, available for free download at http://rainbowdangerclub.bandcamp.com/

These should rightfully be in the millions of listeners. Their album sounds very polished – this is music I expect to hear on (good) mainstream radio stations. It's hard for me to characterize them… The comparisons I can think of all seem inappropriate: they've reminded me of Radiohead or Pink Floyd. They're a group from Shanghai, China, apparently from the expat community there. I'd have placed them in the UK by their sound.

    Ann Feld

    Artist: Ann Feld
    Currently: 317 plays (138 listeners)
    Genre: electronic/pop/ambient/alternative
    Website: http://www.annfeld.com
Latest Album: Welcome Back to the Aquarium, a re-recorded version of debut album Welcome to the Aquarium, available on iTunes and on my Ann Feld Bandcamp page

This is my music, created under a stage name since it's easier to spell and pronounce than my real name! If you like some electronic artists like Moby, Thievery Corporation, or Sleepthief, crossed with some interesting female artists like Kate Bush or Regina Spektor, you might like my Ann Feld music. Check it out! :)

Another recent find I like: Kelsey Lindstrom

    Artist: Kelsey Lindstrom
    Currently: 457 plays (62 listeners)
Genre: piano/ethereal/singer-songwriter (going off of Last FM tags)
    Website: http://www.kelseylindstrom.com
Latest Album: The Reading Room, the only album she has so far

I found this girl by accident on Reverbnation and I've since bought her album, The Reading Room, on iTunes. If you like ethereal female singers and songwriters, with a lot of beautiful piano and vocal work and interesting lyrics, you will really enjoy Kelsey. I know I'm glad I found her! :)

  • Amanda Shires

    Listeners: 1,294
    Genre: Singer-Songwriter

Amanda Shires is a fantastic SInger-Songwriter from Texas. Her new album, Carrying Lightning, is excellent. She's been compared favorably to Lucinda Williams. Her song "When You Need A Train It Never Comes" is the best song I've heard all year

  • Tiger Please

    Listeners: 1,666
    Plays: 40,740
    Genre: Post-hardcore/alternative/indie
Album(s): They Don't Change Under Moonlight (2011); Seasons (EP, 2010)

This is an absolutely fantastic five piece from Cardiff, UK. I was amazed to find that they are still bellow 2,000 listeners. Tiger Please have a welcoming sound and plenty of well-rounded tunes that many bands of their stature are looking to create. For example, Without Country and Strawberry Moon, taken from their 2011 album They Don't Change Under Moonlight; would quite happily fit into any radio stations playlist, but yet they still have an unclean, rogue almost 'rough and ready' feel that let's you know there a tinges of post-hardcore mixed in with the popular indie/alternative sound that will make you attracted to this vastly under-listened and somewhat underrated band!

Take a listen for yourself and make your own opinion.
    Here's Without Country

    Deep in Thought
    17.069 plays, 1.670 listeners

A really good post-rock band I've found by using some free downloads. They play pretty simple music but it doesn't mean they aren't good at all. The album "Dreamscapes" is full of beautiful melodies and impressive instrumental parts. For those who don't like post-rock very much, check it out for relaxing.

  • Bobbys Beard

Sublime & dreamy High Llamas, Brian Wilson type, dream pop.

  • Octopus Nebula

I just discovered this band, from Colorado, USA. Octopus Nebula has a kind of psychedelic sound, blending electronic music with rock, acid jazz, breakbeats, and fuse it all together pretty well. Check out their last fm page and their homepage. http://www.last.fm/music/Octopus+Nebula - free downloads at http://www.octopusnebula.com/downloads/. Kind of a psychedelic/electronic/rock/groove band, very cool, very groovy. I recommend giving them a listen!

I highly recommend Raquy and the Cavemen.

They're a mix of Turkish traditional with metal and rock influences. Turkish darbuka drums (played phenomenally) combined with normal rock kit under a Persian kemence (traditional spike fiddle) run through a distorted amp. "Tribal Metal" might be a good term for it.

  • The Mermaids Of The Lipetsk Shed

No bears,no balalaykas, only furious riffs and stormy solos!
