Used to go to gigs with friends and saw it was pointless as they would not enjoy the music as much and usually make me leave early, not to mention they would always be late making me miss the warmup bands or even be late as the band would start. Going alone I met a lot of new people and friends, I have time to talk to the band and always do even talked them through to get free CD's or Vinyl Records sometimes. I even met other people on Le Guess Who? but still preferred to go alone to the concerts, even took a pic with Mac DeMarco :) Going alone to gigs is always best option.

Is it weird going on gigs alone? :D I mean like all the time I went with someone it was rather drinking beer contest or weird trying to find a theme to talk about, with person you don't want to be somewhere for 2-3 hours, quite uncomfortable. While being alone I enjoyed like 90% of the gigs, talk about being an introvert huh :D I guess everyone is different and have different tastes about things, if your passion is music you can go to gigs alone easily.

I live in New Jersey, USA, I'm from Australia, and I love live music. Alot of the people i've met so far, don't seem to have the same taste as me. So....hopefully I can meet some cool people on here that have a similar music taste, and wouldnt mind going to some gigs together.

I just reached that point where I'm debating whether or not to go to gigs alone, since last night was another 'disaster'. My friends were complaining about their legs hurting and the sound being quite loud and how late it was getting (on a saturday!). Also, I like to see an unknown band once in a while, just to see what's out there, but it's even harder to get my friends to go to that, since they don't really want to pay if they don't know if it's going to be good. Isn't there some sort of website where you can find gigs all over the world and see attendees that are also going alone but would like to meet up with others, meet new people that understand the excitement for a particular band? Sort of like facebook/songkick/couchsurfing in one? Either way, I am going to try this going alone next time, just really dreading the inbetweenbandstime...

I prettymuch only go to gigs alone. It's weirder for me to go to gigs with other people now. It's boring between bands but I can just fuck around on my phone and drink beer.

Used to go to gigs every weekend when I lived up north, but since moving down south I developed this complex about going to gigs alone, this has led me to miss out on a lot of good acts. I stumbled onto this forum by chance and after reading some the posts theres Fcuk all to worry about, Keep Music Live!!

Yes, that. It's a bit awkward, but far better than going with someone who isn't into it, who inevitably complains or wants to leave early.

It's worked out for me. It's better than having to enjoy the show beside a friend who's not into it. But it does suck in-between bands. I just drink beer and smoke more than I really want to. I still pogo and sometimes get carried away. I saw Broadcast and Atlas Sound alone last fall. It was raining and freezing. I had to drive 2.5 hours, got lost at night in DC and soaked because I had to park far away. I'm glad about it. I left the show happily...and quickly.

I always attend to gigs alone. Including to travel to other countries. It sucks, but it sucks more to lose the band you like.

For members in & around the Falkirk area there is a current effort by myself and some others to bring back the underground music scene it once held. If you live in the area and would like to see this happen then please join this forum & help us in our cause!!

I would highly recommend to anyone who is thinking of going to gigs alone to definitely go! I do it most of the time & last night I saw Ricky Warwick (supported by New York Alcoholic Anxiety Attack) live in Glasgow & ended up spending nearly the whole main set talking with Mick & Matt from the latter. I used to put it off and put it off until one day I just bit the bullet and went & have been hooked ever since. So yes, definitely go man!!
