If nothing is working, make sure that in the past, you didn't install privoxy. If you did, you may have a "http_proxy" variable in your env. (Use env | grep "http_proxy" to check.) If the check returns with something like "http_proxy=http://127.0.0.1:8118", you'll need to unset it to get the damn thing to work. (unset http_proxy) PROBLEM SOLVED!

Nice, finally fixed. Also, @gesinger Thanks for the tip, except that it's SHIFT+P. ;(

shell-fm does scrobble by default. There was a bug in a release some time ago that had scrobbling disabled by default, but you can still activate it manually, or - even better - compile from the latest sources from github!

@digitalhorse you can, you simply need to type P (toggles enable/disable RTP - report to profile - scrobbling)

This is bullshit. shell-fm should scrobble!

@phoenixsol did you try manually enabling RTP (shortcut P). That fixed it with me.

Only if your friends also use Linux ;)

You can use such server (VPS) with your friends. So it can cost less than $3/mo for each of you. ;)

@srf21c I pay 3$ a month. How is your solution better if I only want last.fm?

    June 2009
  • srf21c

If you're outside the states, you might want to provision a VPS (Virtual Private Server) at a US datacenter for $12/mo at some place like http://www.nobullservers.com/. Then you can use the server as a proxy or VPN endpoint for your last.fm streams.

Still working. Have the changes just been delayed, completely dropped or do they just not affect shell-fm?

Does anyone know how this: http://www.last.fm/group/Last.fm+Web+Services/forum/21604/_/517212 will affect 3rd party players? If i am not wrong, it looks like only subscribers (no matter what country) will be able to stream using shell-fm, and will we even have a working shell-fm client next week?
