Scrobble from pianobar - Tutorial: http://hunnur.com/blog/2011/02/scrobble-to-last-fm-with-pianobar/

Hey TUpton your service not only works like a charm... it also offers a clever solution. cURL communication and google auth!! Kudos!!! My only issue? Being so eager to use it!! I didn't read it and missed the authentication with Google and Last.FM permissions. Still, awesome job!!!

I made a little service that will, once you authenticate through Last.fm, scrobble in response to messages you send. I'm still testing it, but it works wonderfully for me. http://scrobbular.appspot.com/ There is an example eventcmd script at http://scrobbular.appspot.com/howto If you do use it, please let me know, especially if you have any issues.

whiprush, awesome. That's extremely helpful. I'm not sure why I couldn't find that before.

The pianobar page mentions Last.fm support with an external scrobbler, but there is no further explanation. Has anyone successfully set this up?

Guys: Someone has forked pianobar and undid the commit that removed scrobbling functionality (http://github.com/jordanlewis/pianobar). I just installed this version and tested it to work! Beware of potential issues as cited in the discussion regarding the original removal of this functionality: "...error handling was quite bad and libwardrobe lacks a method for caching tracks that couldn't be scrobbled because of errors". So far so good for me, after listening and scrobbling a few tracks on my own. So, check out this version and don't forget to add your last.fm credentials per the manpage :)

Anybody figure out how to make scrobbling work?

An update... I found the post on git where the author mentions the external script that does this, but I'm confused as to how we run the eventcmd.sh script such that is scrobbles the songs from pianobar. I assume that I could write a perl script that executes pianobar and then parse the output of each song played and use the perl audio-scrobbler function, but I'm not sure if this is necessary. Thanks again!

Hey all! Just joined, I'm moving extensively to command line options for everything and love pianobar, but I too would like to set scrobbling up to last.fm. I read through the issue as xiongchiamiov mentioned, but it doesn't include any information with respect to setting up an external scrobbler. I have looked though CPAN on modules for writing my own, but would like to avoid that if possible. What have you guys got to work? Thanks!

Not that it seems like many people check this (especially since we only have 4 members!), but it's worth noting that pianobar's builtin last.fm scrobbling support has been removed. There are other methods of making it work. See http://github.com/PromyLOPh/pianobar/issues/closed#issue/21 for more details.

No, it wasn't me. But thanks anyway for the info. :) Up and running again. :D Btw. an Android-version would be cool. Maybe I will try to port it.

If you weren't the one who reported it, someone did, and he fixed it: http://github.com/PromyLOPh/pianobar/issues/closed/#issue/2

I'll be rather surprised if anyone else actually joins this group, but hey - why not?
