IsacDaavid Good news for people stuck in BlackBerry propietary devices (like me). I've made a new Libre.fm client...... LibreScrobbleBerry is a free (libre) digital audio player for BlackBerry which scrobbles to Libre.fm. It is a very simple mod based on ScrobbleBerry 0.2, and supports vorbis and flac playback (amongst other popular formats). It doesn’t scrobble the audio played with the built-in blackberry player, but does using its own player that can be accessed pressing the menu key at the app’s main screen.

Costelongue I follow the project since spring 2009 and it's still an exciting and pleasant thing to see it getting better and better, while the community seeks the best ways to improve it by making proposals, discussing them and coding (and voting for the logo, for example ;-). I really like the podcasts too.

tossey I think it's perfectly fine for libre.fm to progress at a slow pace. Never forget, all the work is done by people on their own time, for free. Back in the days when last.fm was still Audioscrobbler, development was much slower here, too. When it took off big time, and all those fancy functions started pooring in, that was the beginning of the end - and last.fm exploded into this data-mining corporate facebook-clone-with-music-on-top that it is today. I like libre.fm to be lean. There is no need for a second site crammed with features like last.fm. The only thing I'd like to see more of is possibilties for interaction. After all, libre.fm is supposed to be a community project, so it would be nice if people were given more room to interact. And I don't mean that in a facebook kind of way ^^

(either because it's neither CC-BY nor CC-BY-SA or the albums are too new or the license has been changed to something that is not referred to as "Free Cultural Musical Work") I can't concentrate on what other reason can be the cause.

it's slowly progressing. I've checked in every 3 months or something like 2 or 5 times this year since i joined last year. I'll see if it can replace lastfm one day.. haven't seen something like an events section there yet.

Is this project stable yet? Can it safely be used as a complete substitute for last.fm at this stage (scrobbling only, of course)?

shempmonkey Scraping hadn't worked with the windows app because I needed to drop the BeautifulSoup.py into my Python libs; works like a charm now. Still hoping someone has figured out how to do parallel scrobbling and will share that.

To add to the below (and clarify) I'm not opposed to scraping. Though it hasn't worked for me. It would be great if there were a way to pass the same data to both sites in realtime.

Since MediaMonkey requires a hosts redirect in order to scrobble to libre.fm, I'm wondering if there's any way to scrobble to both last & libre? Or just one or the other?

At first, I did not understand anything, too. :D Here is what to do: From this link, follow the instructions; or click this link to download the plugin needed directly. Then, change your hosts file as described here. I hope this will help.

EvilAaron Be nice to have easier methods to import LastFM data to LibreFM. Python scripts work for some folks but be able to get many more to jump in if there was normal person tools that made it less daunting for folks
