artist matching system and James Blunt

  • artist matching system and James Blunt

I like the idea of this, so I put in my Last FM username and gave it a go but was horrified to see that the first video it came back with was James Blunt! There is a lot of rubbish in my music collection, but I'm sure that I have none of his songs.

How could this have happened? It isn't trying to suggest something new I may like?

Hah, really? Well, to be honest, it could be. The current system is pretty dumb since it only looks for the artist name. I see you have an artist called 'James' in your top artists. Well, it would have just looked for 'James' on the music videos on YouTube then, and found Mr James Blunt. The new system I've been working on is a bit smarter and you shouldn't have that problem anymore. I would link you to the new page but it seems broken at the moment. I'm having a couple of days of starting thursday and hope to get some new stuff working soon :)

    Any developments?

I remember someone did 'last.tv' or something before (maybe it was you, maybe it's the same thing, with a different page, etc.) and exactly the same happened with that. I seemed to get some Finnish grind band because in the song title was a word from a band name in my charts, then I got the song 'Fugazi' by Fish (don't like his music, or Marillion, sorry) because I listen to the band Fugazi, but these posts are 6 months old. Maybe it's unrealistic to fix this. Or am I wrong? Of course, if something comes on you don't like, you just have to delete the numbers and letters from the end of the page address and refresh, then it finds you another one. Would be good to have a button on the page that does this, with 'next' or 'new video' or something written on it.

Respect and thanks for you efforts to make this, all the same. This is ultimately a little glitch and the general result is cool.
