Most overated bands of all time

This isnt worst bands, but most overated. i have a solid top 3, if anyone cares to add.

Actually Joy Division is legitimately not too bad. But I have been trying to listen to Pavement a lot lately, and I have come to this conclusion: music is to sex as Pavement is to serial masturbation. Interesting if you're bored but ultimately pretty lame.

the white stripes, that springsteen bloke, u2, jet, foo fighters, qotsa, green day, i can see what people are talking about when they mention pavement i guess, i think naming joy division may be a bit harsh. and the beatles.

pavement?! I can't take all their albums but they have some real gems! It's not like they ever sold out or even sold that many records... Not sure how they can be overrated!

a band doesn't have to sell out to be over-rated. although pavement were indie pioneers and it's a bit unfair to call them over-rated, i've never been overly inspired by them. they are good though.

dont get me wrong i like early u2. actung baby and joshua tree. but ive heard those songs so many times. its like the radio stations wanna drill our mind. the newer stuff is awful. basically i could go the rest of my life without ever hearing another u2 song. jet is new and there fame will probably fade, so whatever. i cant beleive joy division got brought up. they had tremendous influence. i dunno. i think i could argue that one. and please please dont bring the beatles up.

I agree with the Joy Division one. Most of Brit pop pisses, a bunch of snobby drug addicts who think that they are deeper and more intelligent than American songwriters...I think the movies called 24 hour party people. I mean, some of the bands are alright, it's just, theres this massive obsession with being (a) rock-star(s) over there.

And Joy Division, couldn't play well at all (not necissarily that important in some indie music) and sounded like shit. I will agree with anyone that Love Will Tear Us Apart is an amazing song, but, they just got lucky in the songwriting process there.

and nirvana is by far the most overrated band of all time, along with the entire "grunge" scene.
