    Best Belle and Sebastian songs!

Highly original topic, I know, but might aswell get the ball rolling...

What are your three favourite B+S tracks?

    For me, it'd be;
    1. Step into my office, baby
    2. She's losing it
    3. Roy Walker

For the first two, I think I'm just in love with the lyrics, they're so damned funny/clever. I could list a dozen other tracks I love, but I'll stick with these three. They're all fairly upbeat, but I like the slower ones aswell like "i fought in a war", "if you're feeling sinister", etc... what do other people regarding uptempo/slower tracks?

Tigermilk's by far the best album.. though I have to confess I don't have Storytelling, so I can't comment on that.

  • 1. If You're Feeling Sinister
    2. The State I Am In
    3. Lord Anthony

It's hard to pick three and put them in order. I'm not sure these are even my three favourite, but there you are. No, they're not. Damn. Ah well. I mean, you've got "She's Losing It", "Stars of Track and Field", "Like Dylan In The Movies", "Beautiful", "Judy and the Dream Of Horses", "Expectations"... Aargh.

THe first because it's got character, I suppose. Wonderful chorus. The State I Am In because of the lyrics and the happiness. The third... I'm not sure. Best track on Dear Catastrophe Waitress.

I've got one more 5 star song in Tigermilk compared to Sinister, but there are some songs I can't feel happy with: Electronic Renneissance, for one. I'd put IYFS and TM on par.

Storytelling is quite good, but not really great.

  • that's really hard :(

    1. if you find yourself caught in love
    2. get me away from here, i'm dying
    3. i'm waking up to us/i love my car (oh please let me have them both!!)

  • 1.I fought In A War
    2. The Chalet Lines
    3. The Rollercoaster Ride (first belle & sebastian song I ever heard)
    4. The Fox In The Snow
    5. Winter Wooskie
    6. Women's Realm
    7. The Gate
    8. This Is Just A Modern Rock Song
    9. Family Tree
    10. Lazy Line Painter Jane
    11.O come, O come Emmanuel
    12. Legal Man
    13. Dog On Wheels (I like the live version better)
    14. The State I Am In
    15. Judy Is a Dickslap
    16. Fuck This Shit

    1. Sleep the Clock Around
    2. Lazy Line Painter Jane
    3. Legal Man

Sleep the Clock Around was the song that made me listening to B&S. There are actually too much great songs to make a Top, impossible.

  • Oh this is so hard...

    1. Piazza, New York Catcher
    2. Seeing Other People
    3. Asleep On A Sunbeam

I'll probably have to come back and change this later though, there are so many. And I don't own either Tigermilk or Storytelling yet, I'm a fairly new fan.

Geez, that *is* really hard. I think for me:
    1. Judy and The Dream of Horses
    2. Get me away, I'm Dying
    3. Fox in The Snow

I just realized those are all off the same album though...oh well, I still love em!

Oceans lay between us and the things we think we need
But I know many who would gladly swim to get to where we are
Always more together than the ones you think are better-off
But darlin', no one's gotten half this far

    1. Like Dylan in the Movies
    2. I Fought in a War
    3. Get Me Away From Here, I'm Dying
    4. If She Wants Me
    5. The Model

(These are rough estimates, there are too many wonderful songs to truthfully pick only a few.)

  • My two favourites have to be Step Into My Office Baby, and She's Losing It. Album wise.... a throw up between Dear Catastrophe Waitress and Tigermilk. Did't think that much of Storytelling.
