The music is very moving, a creative work of art. Truly unique and unforgettable. The first album sets in with Trevor Horn's great production on his newly created ZTT label. A masterpiece born in the midst of the 80s. Due to arguments between the band members they ended up splitting apart with lead singer Claudia Brücken not even appearing on their follow up album 1234 released in 1990. The few remaining members at that time (Ralf Dörper and Susanne Freytag) signed a new deal with Virgin Records, and began recording new material. However most of the final album result came from a new line up including a new bassist, drummer and american singer Betsi Miller, with earlier member Michael Mertens still present.

Even though the album 1234 isn't a real Propaganda album, and at times sounds like a totally different band; it is still reminiscent of propaganda and often at times, still inspired.

Later in 1998, a special reunion was taken place by Propaganda members Michael Mertens, Claudia Brücken and Susanne Freytag. The reunion eventually fell apart but 9 new songs were leaked on the internet. Enough songs to comprise an album. Since these songs were never released, the album they would have been released on is without a name as well naturally. This "untitled unreleased" propaganda album was back in full shape showing what just some of the members of Propaganda's potential could be if they stuck together for a longer period. But of course, Claudia had to leave once again and had to say of the reunion "The reunion was worth a try, but did not work out."

In July 2010, a 2-disc Deluxe Edition of A Secret Wish, containing the varying tracks released on both the original vinyl album, cassette and CD versions, was released to mark the album's 25th anniversary. The release also includes unreleased 12" remixes, demos and previously-unheard songs. The booklet accompanying the release mentions that "At the time of writing, spring 2010, Mertens, Brücken, Freytag and Dörper are back on terms and for the second time since 2000 they are considering working together."

However, in an interview around the same time, Brücken said that Mertens was unwilling to work with her any longer.

If so, will still standing long time original members Claudia Brücken, Ralf Dörper and Susanne Freytag be working again soon? Let's hope so and remain optimistic.

Yes, A secret wish is one of the best albums ever made (regardless of genera) ..Frozen faces is probably my favorite song on ASW but all the songs are excellently composed!

Just learned that Wishful Thinking gets the deluxe release treatment on 4 June. HMV.com have it included in their two for £12 chart albums promotion. Kerr-ching.

A Secret Wish is timeless and still ranks as one of my favourite albums.

1234 isn't on the same level of A secret wish or even as good as Claudia's return to Propaganda with their new unreleased album in 1998. (second best to their debut but still not the full original Propaganda members present but most of them) but 1234 is still good stuff! 1234 is way more mellow then A secret wish and that may initially put off some fans only seeking Propaganda's true sound only. Totally understandable to me. I happen to love all three Propaganda albums. Some of Freytag's voice overs and Ralf Dörper's lyrics were still used on 1234 btw.

I get the impression that Brücken and Freytag don't particularly like each other much. That pic above confirms my suspicion! There is a bit of controversy over at YouTube about whether the second album is rubbish. I think it's a bit of understated brilliance. http://youtu.be/W7L2V_NrJHc

I'm surprised there wasn't a Propaganda group before. Thanks Zar_Unity now there is.

I had to create a group for this amazing band. If you're a fan, please join. Some of the written material is by me, other notes are taken (borrowed) from Wikipedia.
