Description:
For those who can't stand seeing their favourite artists incorrectly tagged as "anime".

Our philosophy:

While we do know tags are subjective and may be used freely by anyone to group items, we think that there are right uses and wrong uses of the "anime" tag, most especially when it comes to tagging bands.

We don't listen to anime music; we listen to JAPANESE music. Used in anime or not, we consider all japanese music as JAPANESE MUSIC. There are no "anime bands". Just Japanese bands who may have songs featured in anime. And as far as we know, Japanese bands are NOT Japanese animation. We are aware of the existence of fictional bands in anime. You may tag them as you want to, but if you happen to tag the REAL people behind the music as "anime"...

Having 3 songs out of 100 used in anime does not qualify a full-fledged artist as "anime singer", or "anime soundtrack". If a band's entire discography (rather than a specific song, or album) was made to be featured in anime, feel free to tag them as such if you think that they are Japanese animation dedicated enough. "Seiyuu"s are also artists, by the way. But seriously, how many artists out there qualify?

And really, why should all Japanese artists be tagged as such when they don't have a single song used in anime? 'cause they're baka Japaniiz and kawaiiiiiiiiiiiii anime r00lz Japan!!!11? Give me a break.

Feel free to discuss other Japanese music related tags in the forum.

This is NOT a Japanese animation hate group. Read our manifesto.

This group is correct! I really dislike seeing mindless tags with which many Japanese artists are tagged. Leave it to the fictional bands like K-on or DMC. But dunno why, J-tags somehow annyo me kinda more xd

@SmokinWickerman, in last.fm i dunno, but i would assume that "japanese" tag alone includes anything japanese; from post rock and punk to pop and animu musics. While "j-pop" is well, only japanese pop.

ugh that tag drives me nuts. the only things that should be tagged with anime are things like k-on! because it's an actual anime band/

I can't believe someone tagged Ryuichi Sakamoto as "anime". He has never done a song for an anime. I hate when people think everything from Japan is related to "anime" Some people seriously think Japan is anime world or something like that

I hate this tag because just because a artist did a song for an anime doesn't mean they are completely associated with anime altogether. Music is music, when I listen to a song I don't listen to it because I liked the anime it may have been used in but because I just like the song itself.

I love anime and also agree with this. Unless it's an actual anime soundtrack being tagged, or a group/artist that ONLY does music for anime, then this tag should be non-existent.
